Recently on one of my other threads j discussed qr barcode scanning no matter which retail outlet, you go into in Victoria.

Merlino the actor..ahem acting premier has just announced that qr scanning will now be mandatory for all workplaces for contact tracing.

I work in for a department, and the area I work in is highly secure. I can’t give many details.

The qr codes I have seen include the name and address of the retailer, so I would say the same would apply to places of work.

My concern is how safe Is this info that is held by the gubment.

For example on the main highway there is a Lockheed Martin highly secure facility. Inwards facing barbed wire fences, electrified inner fence, cameras galore.

I am sure Lockheed wouldn’t want the gubment to know who worked there, the employees info could be accessed from a data breach.

My thoughts are this qr policy is not about contract tracing, it data gathering for a foreign state actor.

Can you imaging the invaluable data as well as the risk of extortion or worse a criminal group taking hostage an employees family who may work in a secret facility, threatening to kill the family unless they get the top secret info they have access to as the info could be hacked from the qr register to find the employees place of work.

You have to ask if we can truly trust our own military.

Until recently I would have said yes. But now, I am not so sure. All the military in Victoria are following the mask requirements like the rats in Pied Piper.

The one group that could walk around mask less, following military protocols could have put a stop to this nonsense months ago.

Who do our military work for ... the Government ... or ... the people?

Remember watching Enemy of the State in the 90s and thinking we're not there yet?

Good times.

Well I guess they don’t want to bite the hand that feeds them.

Rog Orbison said it well, “working god the man”. Sometimes it’s easier to comply.

What a great movie, though I love the conversation with gene hackman, it’s really part one of Enemy of the state.

We were there a long time ago, I love old spy books that discuss tactics such as dead letter drops. Holes in the wall.

Looks like a hell of a lot more than one. I work in a bar and am very fluent in drunk speak but I have no idea what you just said.

This is simple. If you don't want to be tracked, be everywhere. Make your own QR codes, copy the ones you encounter, print them out on convient sheets of codes and scan them often. Share QR codes for locations from many cities and you can travel as fast as the speed of electrons. Make a notebook like they have at the harwdare stores for the loose small items. Share this idea around so it looks like a glitch in the system. Garbage in, garbage out.

Did you ever think that the whole "contact tracing" scheme was ever about public health? Because if you did, you're kind of simple, like on the order of a sheep that casually walks up to the killing floor.

None of this has ever been about anything other than control. The government doesn't care about data breaches because the government is the data breach.

Up to a point. Then one day the piper comes to collect his due and then there's hell to pay.

The reality is that they can already track your location if you carry an Android or iPhone. Even if you have turned off your Google maps timeline, do you think they actually stop tracking you?

Even an old dumb phone ping's off of cell towers. Triangulation and other algorithms can give at least a close approximation of where you've been.

If you want to avoid this, you'll have to ditch the digital tether completely. But who's gonna do that?

[ raises hand ] Me. I leave mine at home most of the time. I think that those of us who are a bit older [ I'll be 57 in a couple months ] or at least a good percentage, are not as dependent on them. We don't live our lives online. I made it from 1964 to 2005 without a cell phone, so it's no big deal if I don't have it with me.

You can get out of almost anything app related by having an unsupported handset, plus they can't track you if your phone has the wrong hardware.

I was smart early on. I never got "tethered" in the first place. So, there is that.
