Another article from Al Jazeera from February..

A US Department of Justice spokesman said the seized Iranian oil had been sold and the proceeds would go to the US Victims of State Sponsored Terrorism Fund.

www.aljazeera.com...

I imagine the same will be done with this oil too.

Odd that your source doesn’t mention anything about it being seized huh?

Not when the source is far-right fake news website The Gateway Pundit , standard ATS fare for narrative pushing these days.

I’m sure with some digging we can find out what they did with it.

That’s not really the issue here though, it’s the false assertion that the US received oil from Iran. That is false.

Dig it up buttercup, plain and simple a ship with Iranian oil showed up on US soil. Unless they got really really really lost, the ship was intended for the US or really close neighbors.

Source?

Dimwit pundit doesn’t count.

The narrative that nonsense is pushing is completely opposite to what actually happened.

How does that make you feel?

The question is... Did they pay for it?. If they stole it they never broke any embargo. Stealing is good just as long as your not stealing from me.

We seized it and donated the whole thing to terror victims.

Thank you, that's good to know.

I am more than good with this.

Sounds exactly like something Trump would do.

Will watch for confirmation that same donation happens this time.

Wrong it wasn't donated it was sold and the money was put into escrow for a court case. Basically, Biden screwed up and sold the oil making it a legal dispute in court. He wasn't supposed to put it on the nasdaq as an import someone made a mistake. What he should have done is moved it to US reserves and not sold it like Trump did.

The U.S. government brought the Achilleas to Houston, Texas, where it sold the just over 2 million barrels of crude oil within it for $110 million, or at around $55 a barrel, court documents show. The money will be held in escrow amid a court case over it.

When asked Monday about the case, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said he had “no details” about it. “Since the time of the former U.S. president, Mr. Bill Clinton, no oil has been purchased from Iran because of their laws,” Khatibzadeh said.

Is the oil getting refined in the US? If so it's contributing to the US economy. Oil workers earn income refining it. They pay taxes on the income and purchase goods with the income generating more taxes. Was the oil donated unrefined? Unfortunately we will likely never know what the US does with seized oil or anything else because the Biden admin is not transparent about much and if any reporter digs into it they will either be blacklisted or the story gets buried on alternative free speech sites.

That's weird. When other countries like in the EU would do that they would be fined/punished.

Your right there would be fines. Berkshire just paid 4.1 million for its deal with Iran.

thefinanceinfo.com...

If I was Berkshire id sue the US government for the return of my money plus damages.

Yea, many got fined for doing business with Iran, but don't you think this power is well simply put evil? The hit country is not allowed to buy or sell on the international market and other country's are not allowed to sell or buy at that sanctioned country. Just making the people poor, even starve and making those in power in that sanctioned country just more determined/resolute to stay the course?
Like N-Korea, they can't do business (buy or sell) and with Iraq the same, only after the war they are now allowed doing business kinda but before that millions of people in poverty and even starvation (even medicines where being sanctioned). On the same time for example, S-Korea gets everything, good thing they buy lots of US weapons of course and such in the meantime (good business). So tell me 1 thing what good does sanctions do and on which right it's even allowed?
Heck, any real left country is considered as bad (there is no left in the US!, but they blame everything on the left (the people anyways) so like Venezuela, Cuba and Colombia are on the hit list of sanctions, government control/change or worse (war). So then those left country's of course get poor and ppl say; yea that's the problem with 'left'!
As with most of Europe (but not as bad as in the USA), there is no real left or they try to eliminate it. God forbid those on bottom get some part of pie as well, no just those high up the ladder eats everything which is the good way (in short). So support the big banks, big company's (heck even Jeff Bezos got 10 billion, the richest man from the government for his play toy of sending rockets in space).
20 billion and you could solve the homeless problem in the US but yea the poorest are nothing in this world of course. Just bow to your leaders and help those poor rich guys/company's/banks and such, wait! socialism for the rich is damn good.

It seems that the oil was seized by the U.S. from the Liberian-flagged tanker Achilleas, which was transporting Iranian crude.

Seizing isn't quite the same as purchasing. Is there a money trail from U.S. to Iran with regards to this oil?

Source please.

Thanks brother.

It sounds like America stole Iran’s oil and then sold it for profit.

Seems to be a habit the country has developed over the last 20 years or so.

Disagree. They’re not too stupid to consider the damage they’re doing to our country.

They are doing it BECAUSE it causes damage to our country.

This is for the ones on this thread with very little math skills . (use it or lose it)
Most tankers can hold 84 million gallons .
Unless I am incorrect in my math , that's a little over 12 tankers for just over a billion gallons.
Did the US confiscate 12 tankers or 1 ?

And it is a confiscation as it was CONTRABAND .

Contraband

illegal or prohibited traffic in goods : smuggling

Do the math.
Always .

So , the question still remains :
Did the Biden admin illegally do business with a hostile , sanctioned country ?
My vote , using logic and math , is yes .

This was a bit better than Barry did though .
Barry just give em billions of tax payer dollars , with nothing asked for in return . (well , nothing we know anyway)
