With the first of three flights to the edge of space completed Virgin Galactic have taken an important step toward achieving its license for commercial space flight by the end of the year.

The next flight should see four of Sir Richard's Virgin Galactic employees join the pilots - to get a sense of the experience that future ticketed customers will enjoy.

The flight after that would see Sir Richard himself go to the edge of space - as a statement of readiness for commercial service.

And it's then on the subsequent outing that the company is expected to start earning revenues.

That's a mission that has been purchased by the Italian Air Force, which is going to put several payload specialists aboard Unity to supervise a number of microgravity experiments.

Now all I need is for those 6 numbers to drop in.

I think what they meant was "edge of Earth's atmosphere". Edge of space implies that part of the universe where space meets whatever is outside the universe. Ultraspace?

Agreed. Master marketing at its finest, to influence the people who don’t think for themselves.

Definitely a cool video. From where did they launch? How long was the flight to the edge of the atmosphere?

I wonder if they can see the stars better or at all as they get farther away from Earth?

Get back to me when flights are $500. I'm also currently in NM, so I'll reserve a spot in 20 years.

If they market it as "to the edge of Earth" they could get the flat Earther movement to take the bait and book flights. Then, perhaps, they would see the curvature of the Earth and get educated?

It would be a public service effort!!

Back when it was the only ride in town doin suborbitals it was cool. This is supposed to fly to 55 miles or 88 km. For me suborbitals aren't that impressive. But if it's below $750, I'd do it.

Traditionally, the international definition for "the edge of Space" was an altitude in excess of 100KM/62 Miles, which is referred to as the Karman Line.

55 miles is close, but not quite the cigar.

I was gonna ask how does one get to the edge of space?
I know my GPS won't take me there.

You explained it perfectly.

Come on. We all know you'll fall off the edge of space and pop up on the other side. That's where all the worm holes are.

Probably more universe, but the real query would seem to be what's in between or separates them?

If they were offering up a flight to prove that the earth was not flat and no payment. I would be a flat-Earther no question!
