Animal rights activists are blocking supplies to some 1,300 U.K. restaurants operated by McDonald’s Corp. in an attempt to persuade the fast-food giant to adopt an entirely plant-based menu.

About 50 protesters from Animal Rebellion have blockaded all four of the company’s U.K. distribution centers, the organization said in a statement. Using trucks and bamboo structures, the group intends to protest at the sites for at least 24 hours, it said.

“McDonald’s is just a symbol of a much bigger problem, the entire animal agriculture industry,” according to Animal Rebellion. “These protests happening across the country are calling out the animal agriculture industry for their part in the global climate crisis.”

This situation is starting to escalate from still water in the pot to the first bubbles of an imminent boil.

For those paying attention across the spectrum of available media, there are little clues and hints about the growing din of the sheep bleating out against the horror that is human consumption of meat.

I remember listening to a TED talk a few years back from a quote-unquote "scientist" railing against the detrimental environmental impact of those filthy stinking carnivores among us. The absolute nightmare that cow farts are, and how they are ravaging Mother Earth! I remember thinking, what a crying shame.....what a crying shame that this guy is given a platform through TED to spout this nonsense.

Talk about science deniers. When you have a moment, read up on research on the impact that a meat diet had on the evolutionary track of homo sapiens, and how a carnivorous diet in general influences larger brain size and higher order cognitive function.

Now, to be clear....I've got nothing against veganism or being a vegetarian or any dietary restriction that a person chooses to adhere to. Some of the most healthy people I've met eat little if any meat. I have known a number of vegans. They would describe to me why they chose to restrict their diet that say, sometimes for personal health reasons, sometimes for ethical reasons.

The big differentiator here, is NOWHERE have I had I ever run across a militarized, overzealous and authoritarian vegetarian until the past few years. Now it seems the militant vegan sheep are multiplying.

It's comical to read the accounts of "militant vegan deniers" here on ATS, and to chat with people in real life that haven't encountered this sentiment or are not seeing the groundswell of support in the political, academic and scientific realms for this kind of dietary authoritarianism.

As an aside, these are generally the folks that take what the MSM tells them at face value and swallow the narrative hook, line and sinker.

The people that ridicule the idea of militant vegans lurking in the midst of the Biden administration; far-left militant vegans slowly creeping into the political mainstream. You know the people; I call them "Literal Loons". They debunk an idea or concept purely on a strict literal verbatim interpretation of its construction or understanding.

If you mention the circulation of anti-meat propaganda among high ranking political figures, even among Biden's advisors, the "Literal Loon" debunking tactic is to spout "They think Biden is banning meat! HA!! How ridiculous" ..... but nobody every made that claim? YOU built that straw man up and knocked it down.

The same tactic was used to build opposition against Trump's proposed border wall. "Trump said he's going to build a border wall AND get Mexico to pay for it! Mexico won't pay for it, so Nope, CAN'T DO IT! Trump said Mexico HAD to pay for the border wall, you see, and they're not going to pay, so that's it, bring in the cranes and bulldozers, operation's cancelled"

The point here is, if you look closely, you'll see the beginnings of a political movement, stoked in part by politicians and media, nurtured and pushed along slowly, so as to not be TOO disruptive and have the movement burn itself out to quickly, before seeds can be planted in the fertile ground of the collective consciousness.

This is the classic "incrementalism" pushed by Hillary Clinton and her ilk: slowly instituting radical change, one piece at a time, one brick at a time, so as to not rock the boat to vigorously. In a fitting analogy to our culinary theme, otherwise known as slowly boiling the frog

When I raised this idea with my wife, she laughed and pointed out how she'd read a story on a restaurant not far from where I work in Manhattan that is "going vegetarian", unveiling a new all-vegan menu, as the pandemic dining restrictions wind down.

Eleven Madison Park, one of the city’s priciest restaurants, is betting the farm — and seeds, roots and fungi — on an all-vegan menu when it reopens on June 10. Goodbye, our favorite lavender and honey-roasted duck and mushroom butter-poached lobster!

It’s an epicurean upheaval by chef/owner Daniel Humm, who’s presided over the three-Michelin-starred eatery’s kitchen since 2006. EMP customers were used to meaty masterpieces from land and sea as part of a $335 prix fixe tasting menu.

Humm wrote in his letter that during the pandemic, “We realized that not only has the world changed, but that we have changed as well . . . it was becoming ever clearer that the current food system is simply not sustainable in so many ways.”

He told The Post on Monday: “I would tell you it would be a lot easier to reopen the restaurant we had before. This is a scary thing for us.

“But it’s crystal clear that the food system — the way we produce food, eat food — so many aspects are broken.

“It’s time to show a plant-based way forward that’s creative, delicious and luxurious.

Looks like no incrementalism needed for this guy. If you're going to eat in HIS establishment, then NO MEAT FOR YOU.

And just like that, "another one bites the dust"

It's no longer a question IF this "movement" exists or not, the question is now, how long will it take the anti-meat authoritarians to choke off the supply of meat to the masses.

What will be their preferred method of preparation and cooking?

Will they bake up new legislation and serve their dish via the legal system?

Will they flash fry the big fast food industries and meat production supply chains, with eco-terrorism and disruptive tactics to keep meat products from reaching you?

Or will it be a slow roast, like our friend Mr. Humm, as restaurant owners and food stores gradually ween you off of meat?

Bon Appetit ATS!

Vegan activists. Surprised they had the energy to get out of bed.

On a serious note. In the UK, MacDonalds actually have a decent business... Oh, I know it's corporate propaganda, but...

MacDonalds food

On another serious note. All the Vegan food shipped in from places where there used to be rainforest. That's where Vegans need to focus their attention - by looking at their own avocados-scoffing bad habits.

PS - have not been to MacDonald for years!

Is it actually meat they sell at that establishment? I thought it was some form of edible plastic.

I’m going for the slow roast option being most likely. Bon appetit

I'm fairly certain 90% of the people who go to McDonalds would stop going if they stopped serving meat and egg products.

The other 10% were just there for the fried taters in the first place.

Why is it people can’t just mind their own business? If I didn’t have to defend my life against ‘activists’ trying to infringe on my rights I could ignore politics all together.

LOL yes indeed, I'm no fan of the Golden Arches. Now the Golden ARCHS on the other hand...

I don't think the point is necessarily the target of the militant veganism so much as the fact that these forces are being marshaled and sent to battle.

After they finish cowing the McDonalds (AND McDowells) folks into line...who do you suspect will be the next adversary?

It'll be the big meat processing plants, the chicken and cattle slaughter houses.

Can you say meat shortage (and inflation)?

Meh, me and mine will simply start supplementing with venison and raising our own chickens.

But if anyone thinks that this will stop at McDonald's....I have a Big Mick I want to sell you.

The glorious activities of "Activist" and "Social Justice Warrior" has been elevated to an actual profession.

There are curiculla taught in Big University specifically meant to turn young kids into authoritarian foot soldiers.

The Bad Guys are winning the information battle.

Soon, only politicians, royalty, celebrities, corporate Petes and other assorted useless eaters will be able to afford to eat meat, drive vehicles with combustion engines and progenate.

I wonder how many of these vegan activists have accepted or promote vaccines that contain animal derived elements?

I wonder if the movement towards eating bugs is going to clash with the anti meat people.

Depriving one's self of meat and sufficient protein/nutrient levels might not be the best way to sustain a high level of critical thinking.

Probably, when asked about this contradiction concerning pandas, most protestors in that lot would be all for starving out pandas, because they believe that foul species subsists off a diet of dumplings (they saw it in Hollywood you know!)

Luckily we can't practically switch everyone to a plant based diet.

Crops are seasonal, and calorie density just means it couldn't happen.

On top of that, a lot of land isn't suitable for crops topographically. But you can still have grazing livestock on land that you couldn't do a crop on.

Not to mention that a diversified food chain is not only very healthy, but more resilient to supply disruptions, natural disasters or other Black Swan events that could potentially starve out large portions of humanity should agricultural centers sustain a major blow.

For those paying attention across the spectrum of available media, there are little clues and hints about the growing din of the sheep bleating out against the horror that is human consumption of meat.

The horror is there , not because of the damage it is alleged to be doing to the planet but the horror of factory farmed meat suffered by the animals who never see the light of day and are kept indoors 24/7 in cramped conditions to supply those who want cheap meat.

The best way to cut consumption is to charge the price the meat is actually worth because its been farmed in an ethical and sustainable way allowing the animals we eat to live in a natural way before they are brought to the food chain.
