I don't think that they are our enemies....they have clearly demonstrated far superior technology. I see no reason why if they were our enemy they would not simply take over and make us do whatever they want....?

They could be our foe for a number of reasons without wanting to take over the world like a classic sci fi novel.
They could be taking resources we don't know we will need for a few centuries. They could be taking people and discarding remains. So on and so forth.

As I said a few posts back, technological superiority does not equal moral or intellectual superiority.

Sgt Stone has some interesting stories. My only quirk with him is he is the only one telling these stories. And retiring from the military after 25 years, I can say I know that people CANNOT keep secrets. Information eventually gets out no matter what you do.

Exactly.

For some reason important projects are compartmentalized, with each one knowing only exactly what they need to know to do their work, as that way any leak will affect only that specific "compartment".

The probability of a leak is directly related to the number of people involved and the time they have to keep things secret.

That's why following leaks is important, not only to see if they are confirmed or not but to try to find other what other "compartments" may be connected to that one and try to find what the whole project is.

You think I'm trolling you? You really don't know me.

Just go away.

No.

I have seen no evidence that they can interact with our internet. Also, they are not hostile, or they would have attacked more often. I think they are neutral observers studying us.

Yeah. I don't think they post on forums.

Humans who go out in the wild to observe animals frequently say that, if you want to observe authentic behavior, you have to avoid letting the animals know you are there.

They probably come on forums and just lurk.

You have seen no evidence?

Can you not deduce from the tic tac incident that they have hacked our military networks? LOL!

It is lofty, meditate in the desert with a tinfoil hat crazy to think they are friendly. It is only wishful thinking after watching the movie ET to think that.

They are covert, show aggressive manners, and are unwilling to communicate.

They want something from us, and the game is to figure out what it is they want from us before they actually get it.
I'm sure our military have some covert means of observing them with new technologies. Maybe, unlikely, they will share that in June.

Probably they just want our industry to start producing products that are useful for them to repair and maintain their ships.

Its easy to get us to produce anything they want, essentially for free, just by playing the stock market, or running a gambling site.

So long as we know how to make it, that is.

Our "innocence" is that we don't know the value of our own merchandise. So they can buy it off us for peanuts (almost literally)

What if they are incapable of fear? Biting ants get into the switch on my water pump, attracted by the magnetism. An ant gets fried, and when it dies, it sends out a pheneremone that says, "I'm under attack!" More ants form a line and step into the electrical field and get fried, and also send out the same message. Ants will form a line and respond to that chemical message until their fried bodies literally force the contacts of the switch apart, thus interrupting the power of the pump.

After that is all over with, the ants line up again to haul the fried ant bodies back to the nest to be recycled. Nothing wasted. I can't imagine that they were ever afraid. They are simply incapable of such emotion. They have no fear, pride, sorrow, joy or glee. They will gladly sacrifice their bodies for the good of the nest. That is their destiny. They never feel sorry for themselves, or experience regret or guilt. Those chemically-induced signals are not accessible to them.

I think the "others" might well be in this same mindset, except extremely, geometrically advanced well beyond our own science. They do what is logical for their own species. If that is so, we humans can never compromise with them. Our desires would be worthless to them, and their motivations would seem cruel to us.

I only hope that if this is true for some of the "others" that there are others out there which have evolved with some of the same chemically-induced reactions as us.

I'm sure that's also how we look from their perspective.

Just think how scary it is for them to see us get nuclear weapons.

We don't have faster than light travel yet, so they don't have to worry where we'll aim them.

Not yet.

I'm not thinking of them as an enemy like Germany during WWII. I'm thinking of them as an enemy more from competition for resources, or because they do not share our values, or because they are stealing our resources from under our noses - resources we may not know we will need for a century or two.
Yes, they could have wiped us out. But whey when we are insignificant?

My point a few posts back - we need to jump from an anthill to a pride of lions technologically as fast as possible. Then they will have some respect.

Pretty ineffective enemy, don't you think? All they've ever done is observe and allegedly shut down some missle silos for a couple hours.

Beyond that, I think that most the other points are derived from a point of understanding that is colored by human understanding and ego.

This is how all extraterrestrial culture is written. We assume they act like us, therefore we must retaliate as though they are hostile hominids because that's OUR culture.

While that is true. "Compartmentalizing". I just have a hard time swallowing it. I'm not saying it isn't effective and true. I just personally, from my own experience, have a hard time believing people can keep their mouths shut.

I think our govt has studied and understood we were being watched for a long time. But, due to group think, they probably considered these beings benign and unworthy of excessive efforts to study. And now, with the media slapping our Military Industrial Complex for allowing these breaches of our airspace as a National Threat that was ignored, we are going to see some serious effort now put back into this. And hopefully publicly.

Try and imagine how life was for people in a place like Columbia, Mexico, or Chile during the cold war. Your own country is for the most part totally powerless. Getting moved around like a chess piece (in particular: a pawn) on the chessboard of powers you can't contend with.

I think that is where Earth itself is in the Cosmic scheme of things.

We're nobodies. But our existence can affect the balance between alien cultures who are competing with *each other*.

Why should they bother with us? First of all i don't think these are beings from another planet but the ancient original inhabitants of our planet and second in all the cases mentioned we see them avoiding all contact with humans and ignoring us. They share the same planet with us and simply tolerate us but they don't want anything to do with us. Only when the planet they share with humans is in peril (nuclear war) they show up and intervene.

Why are some people (me included) interested in rocks?

For some people, anything that may help learn more about the universe around us is a possible target for a study.

Too bad I don't have infinite time available for all the things I would like to study.

Yep. In hind sight, should have called them foe's instead of enemies. Can't be perfect all the time. (But close)

If its not a hoax or disinformation then maybe they are here for something. Water? Earth is the only planet we know of that has very abundant free flowing water. The wild life is secondary, maybe for study or just to mess around with.

A cow might think the same thing, that it deducted that we are it’s enemy.

And yet a farmer cares deeply for his cattle.
The sick cow or steer gets medical attention before the daughter gets new shoes.

Water is extremely common even in our solar system.

Maybe they are harvesting our souls. As we die and wander aimlessly, they harvest our souls in the cruelest manner for energy.
