Wow, why would they use it for low-earth orbital flights? Like the article said it is for long-duration long-distance missions beyond low earth orbit, you know like the ones we haven't had since 72.

No one sold the information to China they stole it in the numerous cyber attacks they have launched against NASA , in one attack a few years ago (2012 I think) China gained full access to NASA computer systems.

You aren't completely wrong. However some info can be stolen that way. People have been historically selling classified data and NASA designs to China for a long long time. And they have been caught doing it..
Not everything is kept on computers that can be hacked into and stolen by foreign agents. That level of espionage requires people over here helping to carry out those kinds of things.

Harvard professors, NASA engineers, all kinds of spies that China has recruited with large bribes to get them rocket designs, space shuttle designs, rover designs, and every other kind of scientific breakthrough information is on the auction block.

Perhaps a small amount China got by hacking in to a computer that had data on it that they wanted. The larger portions require a lot more than just hacking. Dozens of people have been caught and arrested for SELLING NASA designs to China.

It's entirely possible that China got the secrets of how it can be done by hacking NASA, however the engineering and scientific principles are not impossible to work out once you know what has been done. NASA were very open about how they landed on Mars, all you then need to do is work out how that can be replicated.

China did do something not attempted before: launch an landing craft from an orbiter, wich is pretty spectacular.

AND it actually work's, wooaaaaa (so they only send us the faulty stuff but the Martians get actually working products eh! - I wonder if it's got a PC chip's motherboard and how the hell they decoded the instructions to build the thing in the first place).

Sorry I went a bit off topic, more international play in missions to the red planet IF we can work together and if of course China sorts out it's human right's problems and stop's producing dangerous pathogens is more than welcome, getting to space and other worlds is in the long term in every human being's interest but only if doing so benefits everyone.


On a side note what I do not want is for some Chinese scientists to get there hands on possible ancient technology of scientific leaps and using them for there own benefit while greedy corporations sit on more advanced technology's already discovered and perhaps even recovered hiding them behind a slow release of patent's that then just get gobbled up by China anyway and ripping the rest of the human race off for there own private benefit.

But if China is free and open with there date (probably never really gonna be the case) then it is at least more eye's on the ground.

I really do hope there is some kind propulsion break through this time around.

Many of us believe that EG&G along with Lockheed (Kelly Johnson, and Ben Rich) have had the propulsion problem, figured out since 1970.

Probably true but you can't set the world free if you want to control it and certain technology's you really do not want other nations to have, Russia is only now getting hypersonic cruise missiles though of course the technology has been around for a very long time just not implemented and if someone made a far faster engine public knowledge it would only be a matter of week's or months' before some dickhead strapped a nuke to it.

So I can kind of understand sitting on those secret technology's.

Given that in quantum theory observation changes the state of matter and indeed reality a sufficiently advanced consciousness maybe can choose it's state of existence, this would of course mean they could move without moving, not folding space as in dune but simply by changing there quantum state, such science is sadly currently beyond us and beyond anything but our speculation but it is an intriguing thought tree to ponder.
