Hailed as “the Sistine Chapel of the ancients”, archaeologists have found tens of thousands of paintings of animals and humans created up to 12,500 years ago across cliff faces that stretch across nearly eight miles in Colombia.

Their date is based partly on their depictions of now-extinct ice age animals, such as the mastodon, a prehistoric relative of the elephant that hasn’t roamed South America for at least 12,000 years. There are also images of the palaeolama, an extinct camelid, as well as giant sloths and ice age horses.

These animals were all seen and painted by some of the very first humans ever to reach the Amazon. Their pictures give a glimpse into a lost, ancient civilisation. Such is the sheer scale of paintings that they will take generations to study.

Imagine 8+ miles of ancient human and animal history painted over millennia.

In my opinion, the oldest of these drawings/paintings could be as much as 13,000 years plus in age and predate the cataclysm of around 12,900 years ago. At least some of the extinct animals found among the drawings probably died off at that time. The site was kept secret until late 2020 so they could finish a documentary on it. They are saying it could take generations to discover and record what is there. This location is an archaeologists dream come true. Who knows how many books will be published.

Here is a short video from the youtube channel "Mystery History" giving a brief overview...

Also, it seems the documentary has been posted to youtube as well...

I would love to see it in person.

If there is any interest, I have considered doing more threads on ancient history. It's one of my passions and I miss seeing new material on ATS along these lines.

I'm interested.

Stuff like this is the reason many of us came here in the first place.

I would love to see a load of places in person Klassified, quite a few in the likes of ancient Iran for instance, whilst they still stand.

Turkey is probably a better bet all the same and full of all sorts of miraculous wonders.

Derinkuyu in Turkey is a place I've wanted to see in person for many years. Maybe someday...

WOW!

What medium did they use????

Those look like they were drawn last week!

The fact these drawings lasted all these years through multiple climate cycles is amazing!

I hope the archeologists didn't 'smudge' some of the more questionable drawings if you catch my drift.

Something that immense and well documented is bound to have some goodies here and there.

Nice share! I'll give it look this evening.

Thx.

S & F

It was posted here last December by nickelbee, but didn't get much traction.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

The videos look interesting and hopefully this find can be discussed further. A Sistine Chapel is a great way to describe it.

Th documentary might be good, but some random YouTube channel describing it as "pre-flood" is just stupid. It's an amazing discovery in its own right, it doesn't need any fake religious nonsense added on to it.

If the title bothers you, don't watch it. There is no mention of "pre-flood" in the video itself. The documentary has the blessing of the academics who found the site and explored there. You can't get any more official than that.

Correct you are. I live in a rain-forest as well and this looks suspicious at best. I don't know, not the brightest bulb in the pack but I don't believe it is very old. The forest takes what we leave very fast here. I am fighting with it constantly , winning I am not.

Woe unto the closed minded unscientific hate that would have the
whole world cater to their narcissism.

Selfish indeed.
