Fake phone app stalking hoax?

Has anybody heard any reports about a hoax phone app that's written to make people think that they are being stalked?

For example, making it look like they are receiving weird SMS or whatsapp messages, or accessing photographs on their phone and emailing them back to the user with strange comments under them?

Maybe recording them without their knowledge when the phone isn't being used and then emailing the the recordings back to them, or using the location service on the phone to email them messages along the lines of "I saw you in X location yesterday"?

Since when was asking about a rumor considered to be spreading it?

There are a lot of rumors about things like this, for example mobile game that was supposed to be sending creepy messages to the user is an integral part of the Blue Whale conspiracyurban legend in Russia.

Didn't somebody actually invent a real version of that a couple of years later that used some kind of AI to do an image search using Google Images?

In fact, wasn't it one of the suggested functions of Google Glass, so that you'd always know who you were talking to?

I think that it was called Findface or something like that and it was made by some Russian guys.

I have no idea, but most parental control apps are essentially stalking apps. They do pretty much all those things and more.
