Interesting image but not sure how accurate this would be...

That is interesting. It's a looks like a cross between a YF-23 and a B2 Spirit.

I could see that working out but how stable would that be at low speeds?

Apologies Iā€™m not used to the ATS Forum and posting, itā€™s a bit clunky, for the life of me I cannot find a way of pasting the image in... if someone else who has access to the article can this would be appreciated...

This is what the article says:

The image above appears on page 55 (ā€œNext Generation Air Dominanceā€) of the Air Forceā€™s biennial report for acquisition, which it released last week. The aircraft depicted is a large, diamond-shaped fighter jet with large engine air intakes over the airplaneā€™s wing, trailing to the left and right of the cockpit, where the intakes would be shielded from radar from below. The aircraft also features two engines, a bubble canopy cockpit, and two vertical stabilizers that can be retracted to fold flat into the wings.

Interesting picture right there. It doesnt look the most maneuverable. But I imagine dog fights are not a common occurence these days. Interesting to see if one becomes common place. Might explain some of the black triangles ufo sightings.

NGAD isn't going to be a traditional fighter. They need range, and loiter time more than maneuvering. There was an interesting comment I heard from a pilot that flew F-22s for several years. He said that top speed, and maneuverability were the last things on his mind in any fight. It's all about information, and the God's eye view of the battlefield they have now with the F-22 and F-35.

Aren't most of the black triangles slow moving? That sounds like a lot of loiter time. Before long there might be "tactical missle platform zepplins"

No ATS would not allow the full Screen cap, this is what it made me crop and cut to be allowed.

Best I can do
top and bottom halves.

Here's another screenshot

Thank you! šŸ¤— this is what I was trying to see before the Popular Mechanics website blurred the picture and threw up the mandatory subscribe to exclusive content paywall.

Interestingly..
There was a design concept for years that was said by many to be just a toy model.

So i thought it was the F119... but oddly that's just an engine for the F-22

Then I just corrected myself, the F-19 stealth fighter.

Here's the toy..

The F-19 was talked here before. It was mentioned that the F-19 had the ability to fly into Low Earth Orbit. Sounded silly and Zaphod let it be known that it was just a toy. So to me it looks really close to the F-19 toy concept. But I sincerely doubt it has some space faring capabilities.

Thank you so much for posting this thread.šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ˜Š

Edit: just another forum link, but you'll see some other concepts of the F-19.

Zaphod or others might know.. but she's rumored to still be flying from time to time. I don't live near Mojave or Nellis Air Range.

I really like the statement in the article "It is unclear if the new concept art bears any resemblance to the actual aircraft"?????? Now what does THAT tell you? Answer:- they don't really know what it looks like, it's just their artists guess.

Good taste.

I saw Black Widow in flight, in 2004. Pretty sure they were angling to get a contract to use the YF-23 in place of Lancers.

It was the first time I saw a jet fly from one horizon, to the other horizon, before I audibly heard it.

It was weird seeing this thing come into, and leave my field of vision, completely silently.

Then this MASSIVE ROAR, after it was long gone.

I used to work with a guy, ex airforce, black ops kind of stuff.

He claimed to me, that he flew missions in an F-19 over the Congo, and that I'd never find any info on it.

Lots of guys talk out their butts on stuff like that, but he was the believable type, and I didn't know him to be a liar.

Pretty weird guy, drove a bulletproof Mercedes. (The doors on that thing were THICK, like opening a refrigerator.)
