UFC 261: Jacksonville, FL. Arena is at full capacity.

It’s a sporting event, sure. But the big news here is related to COVID. The event is being held in Jacksonville, FL at the VyStar Veterans’s Arena. Maximum capacity, 15,000 people. From what I can tell, it looks sold out and maybe 5-10% of the people are wearing masks.

It’s a little weird seeing so many people at a live event again. But I love it! Is there risk involved? Sure? Are vaccinated attendees shedding their COVID skin everywhere? No.

It’s past time to get our lives back. This is a huge step for the U.S.’s return to normalcy.

I’m on my phone and can’t load pictures to ATS with it. But here’s a link with several photos from it. I don’t believe masks are mandatory. Probably recommended though.

Chris Weidman just brutally broke his leg the same way Anderson Silva did against him. A telegraphed low kick got checked just right and SNAP. Ouch. The seemingly karmic connection is crazy. I think it was like the first strike of the fight too. Uriah Hall just won a fight in the UFC against a former champ without throwing a single strike.

Yeah, that was brutal.

I just saw the Weili vs Namajunas finish. Watching the crown celebrate an exciting finish for the American sweetheart was something special. Smiles and joy from the whole crowd. One of those things I think we all took for granted and never thought we’d miss.

At least Hall didn't jump ontop and punch him a few times, respect.

But dear god that was nasty to see.

Here's hoping Usman doesn't decide to hug and rub feet for 20-25 minutes.

A very stark contrast to how Uriah reacted compared to how Weidman reacted when the shoe was on the other foot. Uriah by all appearances is all class. What a martial artist master way to win a fight lol.

The great thing about MMA is that it’s more than just hitting them in the head. Wrestling, Brazilian Jujitsu, karate, kickboxing, Muay Thai, boxing and other martial arts all factor into a great fighter. You can be submitted just as easily as you can be knocked out.
