If it is research with the only finality of helping mankind, then maybe. However, we all know what will happen once sinister hands get with the program. How can it be stopped? If hindered over ethical reasons, the research will just continue 'underground'.

Anyway, the title brought back a flood of memories of the 70s-80s Japanese TV Series "Monkey"... it was one of my favourites and quite profound:

Most of the time in movies, these types of critters end up turning on their creators

Hopefully life imitates art.

Well it appears, that maybe, but no-one can be sure, that perhaps this all began during a routine lab inspection, that Viceroy Professor Emeritus Dr. D. Rg. HRH. Rt.-Hon. Sire Shnoozllegy Von Spitbottomm BSC. PHD. MSC. Jr. ™, ®, 33rd°, 7th-Dan, Esquire noticed that one of the female monkeys looked rather forlorn.

The lab supervisor, who was the caretaker for the monkeys : mentioned to Viceroy Professor Emeritus Dr. D. Rg. HRH. Rt.-Hon. Sire Shnoozllegy Von Spitbottomm BSC. PHD. MSC. Jr. ™, ®, 33rd°, 7th-Dan, Esquire that the female monkey was in heat, and that only one thing could relieve her.

They conspired to try and get Ralph involved.

Ralph was a lab-assistant, whom cleaned the cages, and fed the monkeys. While he seemed to be a fine physical specimen, he was extremely shy and withdrawn, unmarried, and most likely an incel.

They took Ralph aside, and asked him flat out if he would have sex with the forlorn female monkey, for $1000.00.

Ralph thought about it, and said he'd need to think about it some more, and would give them an answer in the morning.

The next day arrives, and Ralph meets with the supervisor, and Viceroy Professor Emeritus Dr. D. Rg. HRH. Rt.-Hon. Sire Shnoozllegy Von Spitbottomm BSC. PHD. MSC. Jr. ™, ®, 33rd°, 7th-Dan, Esquire.

Ralph says : " Alright : I'll do it. But I have two conditions.
Number one : I don't want to kiss her on the lips.
Number two : You're gonna have to give me a week to come-up with the $1000.00. "

As the science and tech gets easier to duplicate over time I am sure there's going to be many rogue mad scientist in the future. I am afraid of what's to come. Bigfoots/super monkey soldiers sounds not so fun lol.

So what happens if they take a monkey embryo, and remove the gene for hair all over, add a gene to make a bigger brain, then decide to go blond, in fact just change the gene code from its natural 95% human to 100% is it still a monkey? They can still call it subhuman, the only problem. This seems legal.

I dislike the use of the word 'create.' The scientists didn't build anything from scratch, they modified an existing embryonic cell by inserting new genetic information. That's not creating, that's adding/changing a hard drive.

Dr Frankenstein's goal wasn't to create a monster but tinkering with life. Turns out a monstrosity every time. Bill Gates has some "modified" mosquitoes due to be released soon?

I think awareness is what the threshold should be. To exist is benign. To suffer is not, and requires awareness paired with existence.
