U.S. Intel Walks Back Claim Russians Put Bounties on American Troops

A fairly big story here on ATS and elsewhere IIRC and now we find out it wasn't exactly true. Both sides do indeed do this however the Democrats own the MSM now. Regardless I remember when the majority of ATS had a default mode of distrust of the government and the MSM. On top of the other revelations perhaps we can go back to that initial distrust no matter the source, as it's likely disinformation at the worst and extremely biased at best.

It was a blockbuster story about Russia’s return to the imperial “Great Game” in Afghanistan. The Kremlin had spread money around the longtime central Asian battlefield for militants to kill remaining U.S. forces. It sparked a massive outcry from Democrats and their #resistance amplifiers about the treasonous Russian puppet in the White House whose admiration for Vladimir Putin had endangered American troops.

But on Thursday, the Biden administration announced that U.S. intelligence only had “low to moderate” confidence in the story after all. Translated from the jargon of spyworld, that means the intelligence agencies have found the story is, at best, unproven—and possibly untrue.

“The United States intelligence community assesses with low to moderate confidence that Russian intelligence officers sought to encourage Taliban attacks U.S. and coalition personnel in Afghanistan in 2019 and perhaps earlier,” a senior administration official said.

Anyone who has ever been on the ground in Afganistan and talked to the locals would know that Afghani's / Taliban hate Russians far more than they do Americans .

Secondly nothing like this is going on in Afganistan and has not been for atleast the last five years , The last time Afghanistan was really heated up was back in 2014 .

It's possible bounties were happening in the early 2000's no doubt the Russians were arming the Taliban at some point , but to suggest bounties were possible in the last 7 years is pure hyperbole bs .

The Intel community denied the false Washington Post article last fall, but the Biden campaign team, along with all the other Democrats, continued to intentionally lie to the American people.

First CNN and now this, it's just gonna keep coming out and the supposed woke and enlightened will choose to ignore it.

Call them out in the Social Media Space.

First they claimed it was Iran, then Russia. The latest was China. The Taliban have been killing troops for free for 20 years.

It is as if the spirit of Operation Mockingbird still lives in the headquarters of today's corporate media.
