They make it so that black kids can't ever be proud of any achievement, because they know that they got those results from getting easier questions, not being punished and basically get away with anything simply because they have more melanin in their skin.
The only other examples where such treatment is appropriate is with mentally disabled kids, who really can't help themselves.
Treating any able human in a special way is very, very presumptious and actually very insulting.
They literally are saying that white kids are so much better than black kids, they can be treated like normal people.

Wow, extreme racism [in it's truest meaning]. Is that even allowed?

Come on black people, do you like the disability status?

They're exempt because they live in a toxic white man's constructed world. Acting out is just a symptom of being oppressed and should be applauded.

/eye-rolling sarcasm.

They stopped it because it was discriminatory. Now they're bringing it back because people are discriminatory. At what point, I often wonder, will these people ever figure out that human nature supersedes everything this supposed "melting pot" dream was going to create...

Canada does this with native Americans. Their race MUST play a part in their sentencing itā€™s the law and itā€™s messed up.

www.provincialcourt.bc.ca...

Itā€™s called Gladue factors, which I would not have the privilege of if facing sentencing

I think we should all be treated equally as Canadians under the law. That same logic I would extend to Americans the law should be applied to all in the same fashion.

I just used a snippet, but this is a good read to show how stupid things are getting.

www.usnews.com...

The report found the rate of lost instruction is more than five times higher in middle and high schools than the elementary school rates ā€“ 37 days lost per 100 middle and high school students compared to just seven days per 100 elementary school students.

In addition, the rates for Black students and other students of color are significantly higher than those of white students. Black students lost 103 days per 100 students enrolled, 82 more days than the 21 days their white peers lost due to out-of-school suspensions.
...................................
The secretary argued that the guidance did a disservice to schools, creating disruptive classrooms where teachers felt unsafe because they were pressured by school administrators not to report students. But Democrats ripped her for basing the decision to repeal the guidance on an academic study that assumes Black students inherently exhibit poor behavior.

Old Korean saying, A cracked pot will always leak no matter how many times you fill it.

---Fix the dang pot and stop pouring water!!!!!!!!!

What Im getting from reading this is that both sides are wrong.

Treating black students differently by NOT suspending them for incurrences is causing teachers "fear" and "disruptive" classrooms apparently.

While suspending black students for all incursions... in what we know is most likely excessive (lets be honest with ourselves conservatives, please, for once, for the point of this very real discussion).. is causing students who may need it most, to lose a massive amount of days in school. Which of course, is a feedback loop (this just helps the behavior repeat itself).

So instead of making this a Democrat/Republican... White/Minority thing.

Lets instead address the REAL issue and how policies, government, and our school system can help SOLVE it.

The problems:
1.Kids being suspended (regardless of race) leads to said kids missing school, and thus educational an academic opportunity.
2.Teachers not.. A: Having the training, skills, or "will" necessary to resolve, de-escalate, and "coach up" kids... and B: being empowered to a necessary degree to properly teach and resolve conflict.

Solution: Im not an expert on childhood development, education, or conflict management...

But If I had to make a call... I would say...

1. Eliminate suspensions as a punishment. Kids who dont want to be in school in the first place view them as a vacation. Kids in high risk situations at home wont have supervision or guidance. They dont punish the bad behavior as much as they punish the academic health of the child.

2. Replace suspensions with some sort of dedicated small class program where the kids get strict supervision from a specialist in handling adverse situations with dedicated teachers/tutors for their classwork during school hours.

3. Give our teachers better training on in class conflict resolution.

I have never understood suspension. Perhaps in the past ā€” in a time ā€” when ā€œshameā€ was a deterrent. That really doesnā€™t fly today with most kids.

My solution is set up a school room or 2 on a National Guard base (or local military/police type). Require disruptive kids to attend there. And make it the parents responsibility to get them there.

Some kids have never had the security of rules and boundaries. This type facility might just give them that.

If you are going to determine punishment based on the color of skin and not on the actual act; you are a racist piece of filth and should be spat upon.

I totally agree with this.
There is a much deeper problem, the elephant in the room.... Parents/home life

What happened to equal rights for all American citizens? The punishment has to be the same no matter whom you are, only the kids of the rich and politically elite get breaks most times. They should address that problem.

They are also planning to grade or test students differently depending on their social or economic status. That does not sound like equality, then the kids of the elite and the kids of the poor and of color will get good grades, the rest of the students will have to work their tales off to get their grades.

It's only a matter of time before blacks are able to segregate themselves. I guess segregation pushed by democrats won't be racist this time.

Sad thing is that when it happens, there might be a lot of sighs of relief from other races. African children learn just fine on dirt floors with cracked slates. If they can, so will white kids because the parents of white kids care about education and that's the key to it all, not necessarily always social status/money.
