Regardless of the Biden Administration's motivation, this financial assistance from the U.S. Treasury will be a welcome reimbursement to hundreds of thousands of families.

The Biden administration next week will launch a funeral assistance program that will provide up to $9,000 to cover the burial costs of each American who died of covid-19 — the largest program of its type ever offered by the federal government.

The program is open to families regardless of their income, as long as they show documentation and have not already received similar benefits through another program.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has reimbursed burial costs before, but it has never offered as large a payment to so many people. In 2017, for example, FEMA paid $2.6 million to 976 people for funeral costs of victims of three hurricanes — an average of $2,664 per applicant.

But the novel coronavirus’s immense toll means a burial assistance program of an unprecedented scale is now being assembled. More than 557,000 Americans have died of covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

Because the number of people who will be eligible is not known, neither is the program’s ultimate cost — but it will easily be several billion dollars. FEMA is setting up a dedicated toll-free hotline — 1-844-684-6333 — and a call center to answer questions about the program and take applications starting Monday, April 12.

“Although we cannot change what has happened, we affirm our commitment to help with funeral and burial expenses that many families did not anticipate,” acting FEMA administrator Bob Fenton said in a statement.

The $9,000 payment/reimbursement will cover most or all of the cost of putting a loved-one to rest, depending on how elaborate the funeral, and the location.

Hopefully, the Biden Administration will attempt to recover some of the Trillions of dollars Covid-19 has cost the U.S.A., from China.

With that out of the way they can proceed to retroactively listing deaths as COVID related.

What better way to stop all those pesky whistleblowers from saying their deceased familly members were incorrectly counted as COVID deaths.

Are you saying that death certificates will be altered? By whom?

I suppose this could be considered "hush money".

That's why I started off the Opening Post with, "Regardless of the Biden Administration's motivation".

You're kidding?

Did the new administration get a new printing press?
Are they going to start paying families for deaths for all other diseases?

Who is supposed to pay for all this?
China has more money than all of us. And they will not be even getting a bill for this.
We don't have the money.

I mean, it is a nice gesture, those deaths were tragedies.
But all deaths are tragedies, aren't they?

This is worse than a slippery slope.
It is walking to the edge of an eroded cliff.

Nope. Same ones used to pay for the 2018 tax cuts. But that was more than "several billion", I think.

Yeah, hush money for sure. I know some people who died with covid, they were on their way out when they got the disease and they are telling everyone that covid only shortly brought up their deaths. Even the person I know who I thought directly died of covid actually died from pneumonia and he had the pneumonia before even getting the sars-CoV virus. I am sure the little boost from the covid didn't help him much but it is not what actually killed him...well, now his relatives will be saying that he died of covid because they do not want to take the money under false pretenses so they will tell everyone covid killled him.....nine grand is a good chunk of change.

Will there be a nondisclosure agreement that needs to be signed so the people cannot say the person's death was not covid?

If all 557,000 get the full 9 grand, that's a cool half tril. Hell your not even talking real money till you get over a trillion, so this program is cheap.

The game where you pretend not to understand simple statements is my least favorite one, but I guess it's dealer's choice.

Are you saying they're immutable records?

Apples and watermelons.
Tax cuts were a boon to the middle class. Stimulated the economy.

This will be a huge tax increase. Somewhere down the line.

The threshold for the new taxes has already gone from $500K for a family....to $200K for a family....that is $50K for an individual.....hardly the wealthy they chirped about.
No source, but I am sure you can look it up.

ETA
Pity you avoided the rest of my post, especially about how we cannot afford to pander to Covid families.
And which disease will be next.....

Hell no. If they can give some dirtbag street criminal 8 funerals, a gold casket, and $27 million then surely an innocent law abiding citizen deserves ten times that. I wanna see diamond encrusted caskets.

The average funeral costs between $7,000 and $12,000.

How nice of Biden to at least pay for an average funeral...wonder how much those hospital expenses were?

www.cnbc.com...

Those who are hospitalized with coronavirus can expect to pay anywhere from $42,486 to $74,310 if they are uninsured or if they receive care that’s deemed out-of-network by their insurance company,

Aren't the dems about healthcare for the poor some such?

Nothing good can come out of giving people money for nothing. For one it's not free. Someone has to pay. Taxes are going to be raised for ALL not just 200K earners and above. EVERYTHING purchased is petroleum based. Oil prices are going to rise. Shoes, clothes, food, TV's...all of it is based off petroleum. Even electric cars and solar panels. All built with petroleum.

Anyone that voted for Biden has no concept of how national finance works. Things costs money. Only way to get it is from the poor, middle and upper middle. Wealthy are not paying for it. Corporations are not paying. They will move their money to tax free shelters and operations in 3rd world countries. Jobs will die, the economy will die. Add to that the woke culture. Killing sports, people who use to travel, take vacations. They are sick of it. They are not spending like before. I know I'm not. I use to love sports and traveling. Not anymore. Not spending a dime on it until the woke culture suffers for the damage they have done. 24 months and they will be on their knees begging for mercy. Not happening. Their are consequences to projecting fake racism, cheating in an elections and destroying cities.

Show me that "boom" in the economy. Show me that spike.

I got about $900 out of it for 2018 because of my daughter. I think I might owe some money for 2020 because my daughter turned into an adult, dammit.

The next step is to cover funeral costs for all those killed by Firearm disease. How far back should we go?
