This bill is a little different from what Missouri passed not long ago, but I like the direction some states are taking...

PHOENIX, Ariz. (March 30, 2021) – Today, the Arizona Senate gave final approval to a bill that would ban state and local enforcement of federal gun control; past, present and future.
Enactment into law would represent an important first step toward bringing those measures to an end within the state. Rep. Leo Biasiucci (R) introduced House Bill 2111 (HB2111) along with 16 cosponsors on Jan. 24. The legislation bans the state and all political subdivisions of the state from “using any personnel or financial resources to enforce, administer or cooperate with any act, law, treaty, order, rule or regulation of the United States government that is inconsistent with any law” of the state of Arizona regarding the regulation of firearms.
On March 30, the Senate passed HB2111 by a 17-13 vote. It previously passed the House 31-29. It now goes to Gov. Doug Ducey’s desk for his consideration

This is good news and it's nice to see some states taking matters into their own hands, not just on gun laws, but voting legislation and other unconstitutional garbage the Federal government wants to enact and enforce. The DC dems would love to centralize government in this country and that's not good for any of us.

This new legislation also opens the door for repeal of laws already on the books. The 4 main points of the legislation are as follows...

1. Ban state and local enforcement of any federal gun control measures on the books that don’t have concurrent measures in law in the state of Arizona.
2. Ban state and local enforcement of any new gun control measures that might come from Washington D.C. in the future that aren’t on the books in Arizona
3. Shift the focus and attention to any remaining gun control measures on the books in state law
4. Encourage gun rights activists to work in future legislative sessions to repeal those state-level gun control measures as a follow-up.

The governor still has to sign it, but hopefully more states will follow suit.

State Laws, the Dems used it during Trumps Presidency, so now we’re doing it. Red States lead the way!

Many states already ignore federal drug and immigration laws so this shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.
I hope Indiana follows.

Indiana maybe, but Illinois won't. It would be a cold day in hell as they say.

Just that I can see what the reaction will be to this news.

Either “reee” or racism, bigotry, white supremacy, alt right , nazism, you name it.

The reaction from the anti gun whack jobs will be 100% hypocrisy

Removing all laws against drugs and immigration is “stunning and brave and will reduce crime and save money” but creating new and unnecessary gun laws is “stunning and brave and will reduce crime and save money”

That’s all I meant

If only my state would do the same. We don't even have open carry unless camping, fishing, or hiking.

I went fishing once open carry and cops were called. I had the law printed in my pocket and they still almost took me to jail.

Guv Douchey better not blow this...

On the plus side, I'm pretty sure every sheriff in the state knows that they have the lawful (Supreme Court ruled) right to refuse to enforce federal laws and/or orders. As a constitutional duly elected office, their loyalty is to their constituents who elected them and the county they serve -- NOT the federal government.

I wish every Sheriff would take this to heart.

United does not mean centralization of government. Nor does it mean an end to a states right to have their own laws within the boundaries of the constitution the states United under to begin with, especially when federal laws border on, or are, unconstitutional.

The US has done this for years it's kind of mentioned in the Constitution. For example liquor sales till fairly recently Georgia had a number of dry counties, all the while Florida counties were open to party. It's no different than marijuana laws or recently peyote has been decriminalized in one mid-western state.

We don't have to agree on everything to be united, just like the liquor laws they will get changed or accepted over time. You know like a democracy.

Never underestimate the power of Doug Douchey to completely destroy this. There was a time when I thought he had Arizona's best interests in mind, but lately I'm not too sure of that.

We are the United States.

Not just one State ran by the Federal government.

The Founders did this on purpose...

That way if you didn't like the way the laws were going in a state, you could move to another one that was more beneficial to you.

Voting with your feet, as it were.

The States that failed at what they were doing politically would correct themselves, once they ran out of money.

The United States was the "Great Experiment", as far as a Republic went.

It was never supposed to be ruled by the Federal government... they were originally just there to settle trade disputes between States and provide a military for the protection of all States.

Oh how far we have fallen...

But there may still be hope for us.

God, I love this state. Just wish gun and ammo prices weren't through the roof right now. I'm actually looking to pick up a Ruger LCP 9mm for the wife. She needs a better summer-friendly daily carry.

I have one in a cranberry color.

I would highly recommend it as a purse gun or a concealed carry.

There is quickly becoming a separation of places to live if you are liberal or republican.

Are we dividing amongst ourselves naturally?

*Also, where did my thread about the Wisconsin Mask Madate repeal go?

That's no joke. I'm a reloader, and can't seem to find primers for anything, even driving 62 miles one way, to a shop I know of that was getting them in North Phoenix. At least the Saturday morning traffic is nice.

As for the Ruger LC9, I think that's an excellent choice. The LCP is a .380 ACP, which my wife carries, and loves it. She also carries a Ruger SR-40C. Another added bonus is that they are made just up the 17 in Prescott, if I remember right.
