The broad range of data that this sneaky little bastard is capable of stealing is pretty horrifying.
It includes: instant messenger messages and database files; call logs and phone contacts; Whatsapp messages and databases; pictures and videos; all of your text messages; and information on pretty much everything else that is on your phone (it will inventory the rest of the apps on your phone, for instance). The app can also monitor your GPS location (so it knows exactly where you are), hijack your phone’s camera to take pictures, review your browser’s search history and bookmarks, and turn on the phone mic to record audio.

First rule of survival: There is nothing smart about owning a smart phone!

I think we all just assume everything is accessible these days by hackers. I just say hello into my TV and phone every now and then so the spy team assigned to me doesn't die of boredom.

Unfortunately, it has become a necessary tool in business, but it's gone once I retire.

I disagree with that statement. When did it become necessary and why? If it is truly necessary, why didn't you have a mobile phone in your car before cell-phones came along? You could have, if it was indeed "necessary." I contend it isn't necessary, people just follow the crowd. I saw an episode of "I Love Lucy" (you remember that television show from the 1950s?), and a character in it had a phone in his car. So, if cell-phones are so necessary, how come everybody didn't already have a mobile telephone? It was possible to have one. In fact, my 1996 Ford Taurus station wagon came out of the factory with a mobile telephone. I contend they are not necessary.

Warren Buffett rocks a flip phone, but he's kind of an amateur biz guy.

I'll pass on putting my phone in the microwave, my boy gets up in the middle of the night and microwaves food to eat. He would definitely set the food right on top of the phone and proceed to heat his food. He is bad at paying attention to small details like that, even when fully awake.
Hans Gruber: [points gun at John] Put down the gun and give me my detonators.
John McClane: Well, well, well...Hans.
If it was so important for you to have a mobile phone before cell-phones came out, why didn't you already have a mobile phone?
So many people won't answer this question when I ask it. It makes me think they don't really need a cell-phone.
You didn't answer my question, so I'm not sure what you're disagreeing to.
