“Super Straight” and why it’s harmful

This short piece is a few weeks old, but I haven't seen it on ATS, so I spent several minutes trying to decide what forum it belongs in because we don't have a "clown world" forum. Maybe we need one. I'll get to the point up front...

...a new “sexuality” became popular with transphobic people, the new trend is called “Super Straight.” The idea is that you are only attracted to the opposite gender if they were born that gender...

The example given is of course a male antagonist...

It has been said that “super straight” men will only be attracted to a woman if she was born with the anatomy of a woman. Not only is this reducing cis-women to their bodies, but also directly invalidates trans women. It is disgusting and there is absolutely no reason for it. If a man is only attracted to what you have in your pants, he is not a man to waste your time on.

There you have it folks. If you're only attracted to someone of the opposite sex that was born that way, YOU are the problem. Not only that, why aren't you attracted to trans men? They were born women, so you should be attracted to them, but you're not, so YOU are still the problem.

This is utterly insane!

As a farmer I can tell you that animals sniff each others business as a turn on. Not saying there aren't gay animals but overall it's nature's way. Good old fashioned pheromones. I truly accept any trans person as a person and have compassion for the mismatch going on between brain and body but to diss straight folk for being attracted to the opposite sex and what millions of year's evolution gave them is... see first line.

Editing to add... I'm bi and I wouldn't date a trans man or trans woman. Zero attraction. Now if someone I was involved long term with wanted to change sex and they were super cool all around, then I'd cope. Guess I'm transphobic.

Genders are fluid, people are born the way they are, people should be able to love who they want, people can make decisions about their body, everybody should feel safe in their sexuality and shouldn't be bullied or discriminated against.

Well, then as a "Super Straight" woman, let me put it bluntly to anyone who may be lurking and still not get it. < cracks knuckles >

Argument 1.) The claim that only being attracted to natural junk only reduces us womanz to our bodies? DUH. Are you stupid? That's what makes us a real chick, not a fake store-bought one. For most people, that's, to quote Paris, "hot".

Argument 2.) The aforementioned invalidates trans chicks. Nope, doesn't invalidate them at all, they're still chicks with wangs/chopped off wangs though. That's not actually a girl without bare minimum natural hermaphroditic features, people.

Argument 3.) That it's disgusting and there's no reason for it. Well yeah, it's gross, you are hot and bothered by what you are hot an bothered by, it's hardwired. Unless we want to say it's learned, and then guess what else is? Gayness, trans, etc. Do we REALLY want to go down that slope? Anyway. I'm not finding a fake dick sexy nor appealing. Sorry I was born a straight white male - I'm not changing my sexuality to "Super straight" just because a tiny segment of the population thinks I'm a prick for not wanting to a boink a man who calls himself a woman.

I'm a middle aged heterosexual white man- For some reason the nutbags in charge of media seem to think that's a problem all of a sudden. Dozens of generations of straight white middle aged men came and went without this being a problem- but apparently I'm the cause of all of the worlds woes.

We Bi's are supposed to be attracted to EVERYONE, I guess...

As for myself, I'm not really attracted to surgical sites.

Which makes me transphobic as well...

It goes farther. This piece indirectly also invalidates homosexuality. The idea behind homosexuality is that you are only attracted to someone of the same sex as yourself. So if it's problematic to only be attracted as a woman to men who are actually biological men, it would be similarly problematic if I were a woman only attracted to biological women on would think. Either way, there is a trans in the mix who would run afoul of my sexual preferences for not being what they appeared to be.

For me as a straight women, it's the woman who appears as a man. For the lesbian who only dates women, it's the man who appears as a woman.
