Maybe read Travis and Rogers mess on Facebook if you haven't already. Both are waffling.

Money always appears to play a part.

I don't believe they seen any "alien" craft. I think it was all made up just like Billy Meier nonsense.

Thanks ATS men and women. Good information and ideas from all. One of the things I found interesting was when the humanoid blondes came over to him they were wearing a bubble shell helmet. I was thinking controlled environment to isolate microbes and air supply . I am unaware of an abduction case with a humanoid in a helmet with air either supplied. Or portable .

For that matter, I can’t think of other abduction cases with humanoid blondes, just other species. I’ve seen parts of those, so I was intrigued by what Walton experienced (supposedly).

That youtube video is suspect...the source is facebook but no link to the actual post? I just googled the claim Mike Rogers no longer a witness and nothing came up.

This is probably a click bait thread... It is still not clear if it was a hoax or real. Reduced to zero we are as far with the case as it was the moment they reported it. Nothing new to see here..

There's a big update in this story - a producer apparently working with Mike on the new movie released his recorded confession. Mike says the audio is manipulated. Regardless, what interested me was the graphic used - that fire lookout tower. I figured that might be a clue... These things look amazing when lit up at night - very much like the UFO described by the witnesses, in fact:

visitidaho.org...

I have always thought Mike and Travis hoaxed the others (for the National Enquirer prize pool, not that they got much of it in the end). I think THIS is how they did it - the tower lit up, its stilts hidden behind trees (they never got closer than 100 feet), maybe a generator to make the noise, and a blue-filtered searchlight for the beam that zapped him.

Thanks for bumping this but I read on ATS earlier this year one of the guys from the crew has beef with Travis and is saying all this to ruin Travis's name.

All these years go by of huge skepticism and the idea they dressed up a fire tower never crossed anyone's minds seems far fetched.... because their tire tracks and where they said Travis disappeared would have been right next to the fire tower. Then they would have to destroy all the evidence and not leave a trace of it behind.

The explanation of passing the polygraph test because they didn't ask UFO/Alien questions seems pretty logical...but did that actually happen?

It's official, Hollywood has most certainly run out of ideas.

This time, though, Walton will be a black transexual.

I wonder if he sticks to the story if the police come charge him with.
1, wasting police time and resources.
2, Fraud.
3, Lying.
4, causing alarm and fear.

Stick Mike with the Bill for the search party, helicopters, Police time, etc. Let's see how long before his story flips back to Default Damn Aliens mode.

I'm generally suspicious of people who come out and admit something UFO-related was a hoax unless they provide solid evidence that was the case. It's not surprising to me that a lot of people just get fed up with all the kooks and weirdos in the UFO community pestering them for years to the point where they just say, "Oh, that UFO thing? It never happened. Leave me alone."

I have the same standards for judging a hoax confession that I do for the actual event itself. Prove it. Beef me.

Mike is the only one where it might have made a difference, if he knew it was a hoax. It wouldn't really matter with the rest of the crew since they likely weren't in on the hoax. I've never seen a list of the questions the crew was asked, that would be interesting, but I think some of the questions were revealed, like "did you kill Travis Walton?" or something and of course they didn't do that, so truthfully passing that kind of test would be easy. If they asked about a hoax, that kind of question could trip up Mike but I don't know if they asked that or not.

Could be why Mike is saying the audio was manipulated, but I listened to the audio and I didn't get the slightest hint of any manipulation, it all sounded genuine to me. There still had to be a third party involved in the hoax to operate the lights, maybe Travis's brother Duane is a possibility.

Travis failed his first polygraph examination by Jack McCarthy, reputable examiner who found Travis "obviously deceptive". The National Enquirer didn't like that answer, so they then got an inexperienced examiner while his boss was out of town who used questionable procedures to give the National Enquirer the answer they wanted, but probably not the correct answer.

Robert Sheaffer explains this on the Geraldo show alongside Travis (Also listen to Sheaffer's other comments about what Walton's mother said, sounds very suspicious to say the least):

In response to Sheaffer, Travis says he was excessively nervous and that's why he failed the first test.

This rare video explaining Travis Walton's failed polygraph test includes McCarthy explaining that Walton's reactions on the chart didn't indicate he was nervous, they indicated he was deceptive, so McCarthy disputes Walton's claim that he failed the test because he was nervous. The relevant segment begins about time index 6:20, note they tried to cover up McCarthy's polygraph test, and maybe they partially succeeded since not too many people seem to know about this.

archive.org...
The transcript on that site is a little messed up, so I made a corrected transcript beginning at about 6:20 for the relevant part of the video:

6:20
Narrator: The National Enquirer has long had an interest in U.F.O.'s and in selling newspapers. They asked Walton to take a lie detector test and called in the services of Jack McCarthy

McCarthy: I received a call at my home, asking me to come to the Sheraton Hotel in Scottsdale, and not to tell anybody where I was going to eat Well naturally I told my wife and picked up my portable equipment and left for the hotel.

Narrator: A lie detector is used to reveal whether a person is telling the truth. By measuring pulse rate respiration and blood pressure. Some experts however doubt its reliability but after two hours of questioning and recorded the reactions. McCarthy thought he had the answer.

McCarthy: When I completed my examinations after reading my charts I rendered my opinion to the reporters from The National Enquirer that the charts were deceptive. In my opinion he was attempting to perpetrate a U.F.O. hoax. Well the lid blew off the room. I thought his brother Duane was going to throw me off the balcony. He was raging like a bull saying no way that his brother would lie. His charts were very very clear, obviously deceptive. And prior to the examination the reporters from The National Enquirer. Forgot to mention this. Asked me if I would have any objection ahead of time to having pictures taken of my charts, the equipment and myself, following the examination. I said no, no problem. Well after I rendered my opinion, the pictures were completely forgotten. They had no more interest in pictures, but what they did do, they went into an adjoining room and drew up a little form for me to sign, asked me to sign it, to the effect that I wouldn't reveal where I had been that day, they would say nothing about this examination and so forth and so on.

Narrator: Travis Walton argues that he failed the test because he was excessively nervous as a result of his recent close encounter with aliens.

McCarthy: Despite his claim of being overly nervous, his reactions on the chart are in self a disclaimer to that contention. He was not overly nervous, his reactions were normal, they were very deceptive, and in my opinion he is lying and did not take any UFO trip.

Narrator: So McCarthy felt the entire experience was a hoax. Travis Walton was given another test sometime later which he did pass, although the procedure used has been criticized. Despite the controversy the National Enquirer gave the forestry workers the U.F.O. encounter of the Year award with checks amounting to a total of five thousand dollars.

Jay Michael asked him, “Are you saying the event didn’t happen, or you no longer want to be associated with it?”, Rogers replied “I want nothing more to do with Big-T specifically. The event most definitely happened, from our perspective anyway.”

Sounds more like Mike has fallen out with Travis for $$$$$um unknown Rea$$$$on.

There was bad blood between TW and one of the witnesses. Not sure which, but it was part of the investigation into why TW had vanished. The sheriff suspected foul play.

There is a new technology lie detector, in use by the CIA, FBI. It uses geometric laser overlays on the faces of people on video as well as voice analysis and other electrical sensors.

It is being featured on Discovery Channel's "Roswell, The Final Verdict" to obviously verify the testimony of witnesses (mostly deceased, using film of film and audio of them talking) and also relatives and friends of those witnesses.

Supposedly, and this is conjecture as I do not think anyone can truly say it is foolproof, this device is being claimed near 100% fool accurate in determining if someone is being truthful. It is, however, based upon some sound science and is supposed to be much more accurate than a polygraph.

So, I say give Travis & company, this test. I do not know if they even need their permission, as there is so much video and audio of them being interviewed.
