It would be funny if it became one of those spots where everyone sticks their old gum.

A big minty smelling glob of multicoloured yak.

.....and then thrown in the river.

Her statue should stay up.

Right next to the statue should be a sign stating how Greta used climate change as a means to usher in authoritarian rule that caused the deaths of millions (historically) and will do so again if people listen to her.

Her statue should be warning for all future generations.

And just think DB, she has 60+ years left to hone her skills. Kinda makes you feel all warm and fuzzy, doesn't it?

Relax guys, it sounds like it was just an economic decision.
Hitler would take way more materials.

Most kids look at their teen years with quite a bit of embarrassment.
Everything seems so meaningful and you get ever so sincere and pretend-adult and profound.
A few years down the line you end up thinking "god, I was a little turd back then".

Lucky for her that her teen years were one long public tantrum.

I'm so glad social media and camera phones weren't around when I was that age. She has made a pretty uncomfortable looking bed for herself to lie in when (if) she actually grows up a bit.

You guys are to hard on her..
She brought focus back on planet earth.. I think that is a good. The tons of plastic junk that are lying around everywhere is just sad

She's being used as a human shield for corporations to continue pollution and destruction so a few scumbags can profit.
It's cowardly child abuse.
When I was a bit younger people used to protest against the corporate rape of nature.
The corps changed their logo to include something green and a rainbow here and there to give the dummies the appearance of virtue while carrying on with business as usual.

Some weak minded followers bought the con that a small change of design meant that the corps now get a free pass and children now hate their parents for "ruing their world".
Now we see divisive, hostile "protests" no doubt funded and orchestrated by these same corps to keep the division going and keep the attention away from themselves.

If it was really just a child with a dream (nightmare, in this case) I'd probably be right on board.
She is a disposable tool covering a corrupt BUSINESS of climate fraud and social misdirection.

She's straight, white, middle class and cisgender.

So much for their commitment to diversity.

No, she brought focus on herself, and was so preachy and obnoxious that she turned a lot of people against environmental causes.

I'd run my entire life off of renewable resources, and live in a carbon neutral home if I could, but she really rubs me up the wrong way.

For every bit of good she's done, she's also done a lot of harm. She's making environmental conservation about emotions not science.

I hear the statue will have a hole in the back that you can reach up into and work her mouth like a puppet.

Perfect. I'd call it a statue of child abuse by Antifa parents. Or "Screwed Future"
I dont like labels but isnt she on the autistic side or something? Screw it, today it's a joke tomorrow she may be your selected governor

Good point. Someone said earlier in the thread her statue would likely get toppled. With that resume it probably will.

Can we demand that since Greta is very white, her parents very white, her ancestors evil white people who by default of their race were absolutely racists, her statue should be torn down.

She is not only white, she has achieved nothing except parroting what other white people told her to say.

Making her a tool of white supremacy, a born racist, since all white people are born racist, an over privileged and pampered white child, a statue worthy of tearing down for sure.

It is extraordinarily racist of the University to put up a statue of an over privileged white child, born an inherent and systemic racist and descended from all very white people who were surely extremely racist.

Now, now...

Didn't you get the memo? We're supposed to ignore that little factoid.

A statue? Sure, why not. It'll stand as a memorial for her, when her usefulness is over.

No. Somehow....it's to commemorate 50 years of hard work devoted to the town of Winchester and it's populace.
Her tireless efforts have been enormously helpful and generations of Winchester people have improved their lives and assisted the area both economically and personally.

Stuff like that.

At the very least, it will be interesting to see the reaction this statue gets in the UK.

I'm glad they're making a life-sized statue this time, because when they made an enormous mural of her face in San Fransisco, the "Internet" thought it looked like Vladimir Putin.

Hilarious!
Maybe they'll make a statue of her riding a bear and shooting a machine gun at co2 particles.

Yeah especially as President Putin, despite calling her "sincere", wasn't exactly impressed by young Greta.
