Researchers at the San Diego School of Medicine at the university of California say that how people report feelings of wisdom or loneliness is directly related to the microbial diversity levels of their gut.

The authors of the study . . . conversely found lower levels of gut microbes typically represent worse physical and mental health.

“We found that lower levels of loneliness and higher levels of wisdom, compassion, social support and engagement were associated with greater phylogenetic richness and diversity of the gut microbiome,”

The study tied alterations in the trillions of microbes, bacteria, viruses and fungi that are found in the digestive tract to disruptions to stress response, emotions and processes like decision-making.

This is pretty interesting. Researchers have found what seems to be a link between the bacteria and microbes and whatnot of our digestive system and various feelings such as compassion, loneliness, stress, and intuition, among others. I imagine our digestive system and all of the things that live within it have significant effects on other parts of the body and mind that we don't yet realize. I wonder what all kinds of illnesses or symptoms can be treated simply by altering the gut "ecosystem" with probiotic products.

So better health, includes balanced gut bacteria, leads to better more balanced feelings.

Dr. Perlmutter 1st arrived to this conclusion studying depression.

A specific strain as well as understanding of bacterial "balance" between fermicities, and bacteroides was discovered. The maintenence of a ratio of 9 "lactobacillus genus to 5 Bifido bacterium was found to maintain gut wall integrity as well as a sense of well being and the production of seratonin.

There is another very interesting study regarding feelings.

They think that people that get botox or plastic surgery might not be able to fully feel/embrace emotions like
regular people. So there is more to smile lines, frown lines etc than just the feelings, they think there is a physical aspect that is still being studied.

As far as a conspiracy spin.. I wonder if people that have freakishly high healthy gut bacteria are more likely to be
psychic/intuitive etc.

Maybe they are figuring out why liberals act the way they do. It's sort of like that microbe that gets into the brain of an insect and controls it like a zombie.

Actually, it would explain the pervasive Holier-Than-Thou attitude the vegan culture cannot seem to shake itself free from.

There are many research articles that show the same results. This is just another verification of how some of the chemistry added to our foods is causing mental illnesses and depression. Remember, some certified organic chemistries used on food also kill microbes in our guts.

Like what, neem oil?

Backwards interpretation..... people with a poor mental health state eat and drink differently than healthy people.

They recently also found put that "light" products damage our natural bacteria and enforce the production of unhealthy ones.

there are any number of natural articles that kill of good bacteria...Oregano oil being one of my primary complaints in my vocation (healthcare).

Quite a few volatile oils are anti microbial, biotic etc.. as are other metabolites beyond the greater terpene family.

I would start a list....but metals (silver, gold, copper), plants...theres a bunch that when misused internally, or externally can cause die off of beneficial bacteria, causing secondary effects.

Use the gut bacteria, Luke.
