T. J. Hooker is the best available option !

69 channels of nothing but repeats and reality nonsense on a cold dreary Saturday afternoon and I'm left with T. J. bloody Hooker as background noise , never watched it when it was first shown but given the state of British multichannel TV these days it is pretty good Comic book escapism ... Beam me up spotty.

Oh and Dr. Pimple Popper ? .... What have we become.

TV Sucks ?

That's why I don't watch TV.

For a much better William Shatner show try "Weird or what?".
Not the UK one. I found it on YouTube and he is an absolute scream on that. He's gone up a lot in my estimation since then.

I wouldn't advise you buy his album, though. Not his finest performance.

Nothing beats American cop shows mate , other than the Sweeney that is.

T. J. Hooker is nowhere near the greats , Columbo and Kojak.

I hear ya.
100 channels and nothing to watch. If it weren't for the wife's Wendy Williams addiction I would have shut it off years ago.

Have you got no videos/dvds?

I'm never stuck for something to watch. To be fair, there's rarely nothing to watch on freeview. There's a lot of crap but there's usually something if you look.

It's better than the old days in the 70s when we had all of 3 channels and no videos/dvds.

Yeah feeview is utter trash..everything is reapeats.
Horror channel can be OK once in a while, stuff like original star trek/the invaders(I know more repeats) and the odd decentish sci fi film later at night.
But Netflix is pretty awful too IMO-I got a password off my bro,and after watching all the gritty french cop stuff and european/US/Mexican crime dramas(Basicly anything NOT produced by netflix)..
The rest is even worse than our UK freeview.
Even bloody worse since covid-half the freaking new dramas/films are all about pandemics/viruses etc.
ENOUGH !
IF I want to want # like that I will watch the damned news!

Rant over

Don't speak of the album ever again.

But he does a top job as the narrator in the awesome atomic bomb documentary "Trinity and Beyond."

Yea, US produced shows are just awful. There's a smattering of programs that are watchable but for the most part they are pathetic. Part of the problem of course is that the script wrting is horrible. Watched NCIS LA last week and actually had the feeling that much of the conversations between characters was just filler; they had run out of script/ideas. Character development is near extinct as they throw in the odd POC for no particular purpose except to appear to be racially balanced and apparently the mavens of Cultural Correctness are of the opinion that the population of the US is 50% Black, 10% white and the balance an odd collection of "others" which of course must include an obviously Muslim middle eastern person. Oddly apparently few if any Asians live in the US.

Ditch the cable and get Firestick. There are literally dozens of outstanding British, Australian and New Zealand productions available free through Acorn and Brit Box. And the producers in those countries have apparently caught on that more and more Americans are watching their programming as they up their game. Even the lazy Canadians are starting to get in on the act.

For me American cop shows hit their peak with Hill Street Blues , non-glitzy with gritty stories and brilliantly acted.

There will never be another Mick Belker ... ever.

I've started watching comedies. My favorite is "Sandford and Son" and "All in the Family". I laugh my a$$ off at the jokes that would have leftists melding down in today's woke environment.

The best cop shows for me was "COPS" and "BLUE BLOODS". Cops were the first hand ride-along with different departments around the country. It was cancelled because it showed real episodes didn't go along with the BLM dogma. Blue Bloods portrays a police family dealing with the crazy political issues of the day. Both shows are good stuff when you are bored.

Maybe... but those 3-4 free (US) channels had shows folks made time to watch, versus 150 paid channels of nothing.

I’m geezer enough to remember the original run of “V” and how everyone thought TV had went off the cliff then. Recently re-watched it and it’d probably score 5 stars today.

my package has several channels that show nothing but westerns
often the same ones
Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Randolph Scott movies, etc etc.

at least Turner shows non-western old movies.

I watch Riverdale and Nancy Drew but neither are all that good these days.

Weather Channel has hours of tow trucks. lot more interesting than I thought would be.

if I ever become a billzionaire I'll start my own channel(s) with cool old shows and maybe some original stuff.

(Longmire is really good, if you can find it)

If you haven't watched Monk I would give that a go.

My wife and I discovered the show soon after the pandemic started. Got into a ritual of watching one every evening for the good part of the summer. Really really good program. Would rate it up in probably my top 10 shows of all time now.

It's about a P. I. that used to be a detective until his wife was murdered in a car bomb and his mind went hay-wire. He's not LEO anymore but works as a consultant for the Homicide department, and has just about every type of phobia you can imagine and all types of OCDs. It's lighthearted fun, never takes itself seriously (which I think is what makes this work so well) and they sprinkle in some really really heart-touching moments that will make you cry throughout the series. Like the episode he is drawn to a woman he sees on the street and needs to find her for a reason he doesn't understand to find out at the end that the woman had eyes donated to her from his dead wife.
