Whistleblower reveals poor food quality making Michigan National Guard members sick

(WXYZ) — There's a disturbing problem facing Michigan National Guard troops guarding the U.S. Capitol – their food.

A whistleblower is telling 7 Action News nearly 75 meals were thrown out Sunday after metal shavings were found, other meals showed up undercooked making soldiers sick.
A staff sergeant with the Michigan National Guard, whose identity 7 Action News is protecting, says the problem is not isolated.
“Yesterday, for instance, there were 74 different meals found with raw beef in them,” the sergeant said. "Just yesterday, the lunches were, soldiers had found metal shavings in their food.”. . .

The National Guard released the below statement in response to the allegations.

The Michigan National Guard finds the reports of undercooked and poorly prepared food provided to our service members in Washington, D.C. very concerning. The firsthand accounts and pictures of undercooked food being served clearly shows that what is being given to Michigan’s service members is unacceptable. As soon as the first reports were received, Governor Gretchen Whitmer called Acting Secretary of the Army John E. Whitley to communicate Michigan’s concerns. Other Michigan senior leaders also engaged at the highest levels of the federal government to inform those in charge and to ensure that they knew of our displeasure with the conditions. Every assurance was given that the issue would be addressed and corrected.

This food must be either from some "fly by night" catering business or a food service company that hates the military. I suspect that this may be due to socialist democrat liberal "activists" working at the food service. I just heard today they no longer contract with that company.

One question I do have is . . . If this were intentional sabotage by the left, why give food poisoning and adulterated food to the Guard if they are there to protect the usurpers and the Commander and Thief? It seems like the liberal useful idiots have gotten out of their cages and are randomly attacking anyone and anything now.

Just like most other people in DC, the food service industry either charges way too much or puts out trash for meals. DC attracts people who like making lots of money. I am sure they are hiring high quality chefs and buying the best quality products to serve the guards. Hey, the Chef just got canned from Burger King a week before he started working to make these meals, he is experienced for an eighteen year old kid.

Follow the trail. Will no doubt lead to some Democrat giving the contract to someone as a favor or for kickbacks.

My first thoughts, but why food poisoning and adulterated food? The metal shavings sounds far more intentional than under cooked food. The Michigan Governor was concerned enough to question it, but I doubt we'll hear anything more about it.

This is an absolute disgrace.
The men and women that are serving our great country in uniform should be getting the best food available without any concerns about cost, no matter if they are National Guard or active duty.
Someone or everyone in that food company needs to be charged with something.

The sane solution would be to empty the Guard out of DC since they were never needed in the first place and let them go home.

Any other time I would suggest they bring them home...but the State of Michigan has its own tyrannical difficulties. I wouldn't trust Whitmer's caterer.

Hell They could bus them to the nearest DFAC and do the 'guarding' in rotations. Food in those is generally okay. army dining facility . Ft Meyer is only 10 mins away by car....

I'm a block from the guard in Detroit. All these guys want is a decent job, take care of their families, serve their country.

I read this earlier, I am like wow, why is the National guards still in Washington they need to just walk out, let Pertusi, I mean pelosi and the communist in the white house do the protecting themselves, maybe they bring Chinese troops to do the job.

The national guard do not need to stay there at all.

I'm talking ribs, fried catfish, sweet potatas, collared greens, corn on the cob, conr bread, pecan pie, MMMMMHMMMMMM 🐖

Really depends on the dfac of course. Sometimes you can get some really good steak for sure and yeah I miss some southern cooking for sure. My last one had really good cornbread and it's the first time I ever had grits.
And of course you can't beat the prices.

When I heard about this on TV earlier, I heard there are only about 5K troops still in DC, and 1200 are from Michigan....how odd is that if true????
Did most other states call their troops home already?

Then, why did only Michigan NG troops get sick and/or bad food??????

And finally, it sounded like all the troops are set to go home on March 12th.
