(RNS) — The Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans has declared the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Johnson & Johnson “morally compromised” and asked Catholics to avoid it if given the choice, citing concerns about the use of cells with distant ties to abortion “in development and production.”
The archdiocese issued the statement on Friday (Feb. 26), stating that while the decision regarding whether to get a vaccine is an individual choice, “the latest vaccine from Janssen/Johnson & Johnson is morally compromised as it uses the abortion-derived cell line in development and production of the vaccine as well as the testing.”
New Orleans archdiocese urges Catholics to avoid new Johnson & Johnson vaccine
I find this interesting for several reasons....first a Catholic admonishment of at least one form of the current vaccine.
Secondly, an “against my religion” out of this for millions of Americans.
Would SCOTUS agree if it becomes forced?

I wonder how many products we use every day have "distant ties to aborted fetus research"?

Sigh. Science.
Funny how serious Christians including often Catholics are often very skeptical of natural selection and say it doesn’t exist because of God’s creation?
But if those same people refuse to get the vaccine for this reason and then disproportionately perish, that is the epitome of natural selection.
That’s so ironic it’s actually uncanny.
I’m catholic... got my first and second dose already.

the MRNA one was not using cells from aborted fetus lines though,so this wont apply to you. It also wouldnt apply to the J and J as they also do not have any cells,after the intial batches.

There are no aborted embryonic or fetal cells in any of PepsiCo’s final products.
But: Aborted cells are used in the development of artificial flavor enhancers by biotech company Senomyx, with which PepsiCo signed a four-year, $30 million agreement in 2010 for research and development.
Pay attention to the FINAL PRODUCT sentence. pepsi ITSELF does not use fetal stem cells or aborted fetus cells in their products. the lab Senomex test flavors PEPSI send to them to see how the cells react to them,before they try to use them in their products that do not contain any human cells.
I am not against stem cell research either. Clone cells of a long dead fetus are basically artificial at this point. a human is unique,and a clone lacks the unique nature(soul energy) of their original host that never even really lived.
The other drug makers prolly paid off the catholic church in rome to issue this diocese warning.

There is a mismatch between the data published by the authorities and the reality on the ground.
They have three sources of information, besides the emails and adverse event reports they receive through the Internet. These three sources are Israeli news site Ynet, the Israeli Health Ministry database, and the U.S. federal Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) database.
In January 2021, there were 3,000 records of vaccine adverse events, including 2,900 for mRNA vaccines.
Compared to other years, mortality is 40 times higher.
On February 11, a Ynet article presented data related to vaccination. The authors of the Nakim article claim to have debunked this analysis based on data published by Ynet itself: “We took the data by looking at mortality during the vaccination period, which spans 5 weeks. By analyzing these data, we arrived at startling figures that attribute significant mortality to the vaccine.”
The authors say “vaccinations have caused more deaths than the coronavirus would have caused during the same period.”
Haim Yativ and Dr. Seligmann declare that for them, “this is a new Holocaust,” in face of Israeli authority pressure to vaccinate citizens.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They also invite specialists to complete their analyses, and intend to pursue legal follow-up to their discovery. The Health Ministry was not available for comment on a FranceSoir query regarding the findings.
The authors also deplored “the fact of not being able to communicate on this vital information” to their fellow citizens.
An Israeli man who posted this reading on YouTube stated:
I made this short video with an audio broadcast of Mordechai Sones; so that I could pass on the information that many people here in Israel have been dying after receiving the Pfizer Covid-19 Vaccine.
But none of this information seems to be making it into the mainline media.
I am calling on everyone to pray and (seek the Lord to) have this evil thing stopped immediately.
They can kiss butt. I don't give a care about the vaccine or what they think if I don't take one. My area is way too America First Conservative to make us vaccinate. I'll just have to avoid Shreveport which I already do. If necessary, I'll find a fake vac document.
I thought the Johnson and Johnson vaccine was superior because it doesn’t use mRNA. Not that I would get it, but still less scary. Good thing I am not Catholic.
What is the term of superior? The mRNA vaccines are far more effective (95% vs 72%). I guess in terms of people's comfort level the J&J vaccine is your 'traditional' one.
And how have they proven that? Sounds like BS to me. Without the vaccine my immune system has a 99% chance of success even without the Ivermectin protocol. With no risk.
The body of evidence for the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine was primarily informed by one large, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase III clinical trial that enrolled approximately 30,000 participants aged 18–95 years (median = 52 years) (6–9). Interim findings from this clinical trial, using data from participants with a median of 2 months of follow-up, indicate that the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine efficacy after 2 doses was 94.1% (95% confidence interval = 89.3%–96.8%) in preventing symptomatic, laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 among persons without evidence of previous SARS-CoV-2 infection, which was the primary study endpoint.
So, if efficacy means some percent fewer cases of COVID-19, what counts as a "case of COVID"? Both Pfizer and Moderna defined a case as having at least one symptom (however mild) and a positive COVID-19 test. Johnson & Johnson defined a "case" as having a positive COVID-19 test plus at least one moderate symptom (such as shortness of breath, abnormal blood oxygen levels or abnormal respiratory rate) or at least two milder symptoms (such as fever, cough, fatigue, headache, or nausea). Someone with a moderate case of COVID-19 by this definition could either be mildly affected or be incapacitated and feel pretty sick for a few weeks.
