Beautiful design without the slicing and dicing of propellers

We have had a long running thread about flying cars and to be honest everything presented in that thread has not shown any type of breakthrough that peaked my interest.

I came across the following video about the Jetoptera's Bladeless Propulsion System and golly Gee I hope this gets off the ground at an affordable price tag . Once the batteries improve in density it can be fully electric if that is something desired...

So, someone invented an air plane that can be brought down by pollen, dust, frozen water clouds. spiders etc.
I thought we had enough problems with just birds.

I have worked with these but would never trust my life to one for propulsion. Very susceptible to dirt.

The actual propulsion system is the turbine/compressor delivering the air to the induction system. All the induction system does is increasing thrust efficiency at low speed. So it will be more efficient than using the turbine directly. It adds extra weight and friction though. I am not sure it would be competitive against propellers either, except for being more compact and having less moving parts?

I doubt you will ever see a battery capable of running an airplane.
At least not with current chemical batteries.

That's cool! I love the fact that there are no propellers...

We have one here and they say they want the whole fleet retrofitted in a couple of years.
Seems the rona has slowed the process a bit but as far as I understand the retrofit is going on.

Here is a YouTube video of the e-Gull electric ultralight aircraft.
I saw a report from a guy that he went 99 miles on a charge.

Beautiful aircraft, I’m not sure that it will be stable in flight? I hope it works out.

They sure don't give much technical info in the article. My guess would be that the entire cargo capacity was taken up with batteries.

That's awesome.

I didn't see anything about current top speeds.

And I see the flaw involving carry rate.

But man I wish I could live for another 100 years just so I can see how different our means of travel will become.

Plus I have always wondered how those "bladeless" fans worked. So thanks for that.

They were pretty clear in the video that right now it's in the research and development stage.
Who knows how powerful these systems can become.

Right. Plus the amount of weight it can carry is unknown.

But I totally understand why people are putting money into research.
A battery powered compact super efficient and quit flying engine that can carry lots of weight would be a game changer.
And it has vertical lift.

Who knew long term power storage would be so damn hard.

If only we could utilize the power we natural store in ourselves.

But an ulrtalight with 40 minutes flight time is doable.

I had a similar idea for Space propulsion related to how this vehicle moves through the air.

Modern gliders can easily fly over 100k in the right conditions, no power needed.

Powered aircraft can take off using their own power from a level field.

I wonder if hydrogen fuel cells could work for aircraft
