This happened while I was living in Miami Beach, FL, in 2001.
I was living in a fairly new, very nice apartment with a co-worker, and her small dog. The dog was usually quiet and very laid back. I had the
bedroom (cause I worked from home sometimes, and had three computers), and my roommate had the living room.
There was a hallway from the living room into the vanity area, where there were doors to the bathroom the big closet, and my bedroom. A lot of times
my co-workers dog would curl up on my bed, or lie by my chair, when his mommie wasn’t home. Yea, my co-worker was one of those people that talk
“cutsie” with their pets.
Anyways, some 20 people would watch my webcam on a daily basis, and usually there would be 4 or 5 people watching at any one time. I would slip into
the websites chatroom in the evenings, and talk to my subscribers.
Some 3 months into this living arrangement, one of my subscribers asked if the new cat and the dog were getting along. I was baffled by this question,
as there was no cat in the apartment, and all my subscribers had seen the dog many times. This subscriber said that for the last couple of days, while
watching my Webcam, he had seen short hair, gray cat with a white collar. I told the subthere was no cat, and figured it was some weirdo glitch with
light or something, in my bedroom.
Then, over the next 2 or 3 days, several other subs IM’d me about the alleged cat. Now, my subs rarely spoke to each other, and many were not even
in the same country, or were comfortable with the written English language. In other words, they were not sharing this story, or trying to hoax me.
And believe me, keeping me happy was part of their job as subs, because if I wasn’t happy, I didn’t chat with them.
Basically, this cat was appearing at all times. Sometimes I’d been in the room, working, and it would walk around and been seen on cam, or sometimes
it would be seen sitting on my chair, when I was not around. Oddly, when it was in my chair, it would be watching the main monitor that I used for
most of my work, and be clearly visible to folks watching the cam.
Now I should mention I moved the cam around a lot. Sometimes to focus on another area outside of myself, if I looked icky, or because the dog was
sleeping on the bed, and he was ubercute asleep, and my subs had said it was sometimes fun to watch him, or to show of something in my room.
Over all, this cat appeared on my bed, in my desk chair, many times on the floor, and was seen twice in my lap…FREAKY!
I never saw a thing. But then the dog started acting weird. After I had convinced all my subs there was NO cat, they all, in chat, one night, started
telling me I should pay attention, it was a ghost for sure, etc.. And at this point I started to pay attention.
And that evening my roommate was out. The dog started acting very odd. He just couldn’t sit still. He kept roaming around my room, and the hallway
outside my door, and sniffing everything in sight that he could reach.
For several days after this (meanwhile my subs are reporting seeing the cat again and again), the dog acted weird. Sometimes I’d have to put him
outside my room, because of his roaming and sniffing.
The next week, my co-working called me into her office, and started to apologize for all the noise of the previous night. I hadn’t heard a thing,
and told her so. Apparently, around 2 am, her dog woke her up, because he kept scratching the door into the hallway, en route to my room. He was
barking, scratching, and acting really wigged out.
My roommate actually became alarmed, and opened the hallway door. The dog ran into the hallway, and started scratching on my door. My roommate,
fearing that the dog might have sensed something amiss, opened my door. Saw me deeply asleep, grabbed the dog, and went back to bed. I never heard a
peep of this activity.
Upon hearing this from her, I related to her what my subs has been talking about the last 3 weeks. She said she believed in things like this, and that
she would appreciate being further informed of any other activity.
Alas, nothing ever happened after that. The dog never went crazy again, and there were no new sightings of the ghost cat.
Conclusion:
- I never saw a thing, but something was going on.
- My webcam picked up on the ghost cat, but I do not have proof because I did not have the ability to archive feed from the Webcam.
- My roommate’s dog definably noticed something was amiss, and we all know animals are more sensitive then humans.
- Multiple people watching my webcam reported seeing this cat. As some people have reported, webcams can sometimes pick up these images.
- I believe something was amiss. Multiple human sightings via my webcam, plus one freaked out dog usually mean something is going on.
