It's always good to have a couple of nice, big rocks to explore right in front of the wheels!

Looking forward to the hi-res mastcam pics and the footage taken during EDL of course!

Isn't this like the third one they've sent to "Mars". I don't see the fascination with looking at pictures of rocks from a dead planet (core is supposedly solid right?).

How do we know this thing is actually on "Mars" and not riding around on Earth somewhere?

That crazy "Skycrane" thing is one of the riskiest parts of the entire mission... and it always seems to work perfectly fine. That's some really amazing engineering right there, it just needed to be said (respect where respect is due)!

Anyone remember this meme from many moons ago?

Anyway, the "Fossil Hunting Season" on Mars is now officially open!

The ghost of Stanley Kubrick sitting in his director's chair at some remote shooting location in the desert?

Well, one day we can go visit the location ourselves to check the tracks she left behind and the aging rover itself. On the other hand, this time the team is intentionally looking for traces of past life, that's different from previous missions.

Not sure if they could unambiguously determine whether or not something used to be an ancient life form (with the instruments they have), unless an entire skeleton is sticking out of the mud.

But the capability of going there, with all the technical difficulties involved, should be applauded as far as I'm concerned. Apart from that, everything we learn from this mission will be invaluable for future human settlements there as well.
