With so much doom, gloom and negativity going on all around us I thought I'd share something nice which happened today.

FedEx just showed up with a couple unexpected boxes. Both of them were fairly heavy, one large and one smaller. The large box was packed like no package I've seen, and there was another large box inside the bigger box, this one very ornate and linen coated. Inside was a set of (8) very large Waterford leaded crystal goblets. They're just stunningly beautiful too. But what was the occasion? I had to open the second box to find out.

Inside the second smaller box was another piece of Waterford leaded crystal, this one etched. The shape of this second crystal piece was in the form of the number "25". Etched on the glass is my name and a congratulations and thanks for 25 years of dedicated service. The gift is a 25 year service award from my company.

I thought that was very nice, unexpected and brightened up an otherwise gloomy day.

Probably won't mean a lot to anyone else, but it means something to me and I thought I'd share.

Nice indeed.
I hope you've filled one with something old and expensive to toast your self with.

Adding.
I forgot my manners and just wanted to add congratulations.

Congrats brother, and thanks for sharing!

I hope those 25 years came with a fat pension as well.

Now ,the only next question - what to christen those goblets with? 🍻

Waterford is beautiful crystal. I knew a guy that had many pieces displayed all around his office. His secretary would clean them weekly and they would sparkle and looked amazing.
He had so many pieces, my guess was 30-50K in just crystal in that office!

That's really nice to get. Waterford is one of those things that lasting family legacies can be built around. Those pieces that get handed down over time.

We aren't a Waterford family, but a Rookwood one. It has a family connection, and my grandmother had one of the larger collections of antique pieces.

I used to love to look at her collection as a kid and she usually would let me touch them too.

Yes, it is quite beautiful. Some quick research tells me this is the Lismore cut crystal pattern which is one of the oldest and most collected cut crystal patterns.

My bride promptly latched onto them and now has them prominently displayed in her china cabinet. This, as a result of my response to her question of what I wanted to do with them. I suggested taking them up to the barn and using them for containers to drain the oil from my truck and tractors. I guess that wasn't the right answer!

They really are beautiful though.

Nice one dude.

My family are such Waterford fiends when it comes to celebrating special anniversaries. It’s so unusual these days for people to reach such a landmark and you are obviously dedicated to your company.

25 years, fantastic 🥂🥂

An important task had been given to you. You need to find the other 7.

I can't give you more clues, they could be reading this.

After 25 years of service, shouldn’t you be entitled too like at least 9 months long service leave?

A classy little plaque of recognition is all well and good... but it seems to me after 25 years your rightfully owed big time, in physical dolllar terms.

Very cool indeed!

It's little things like that and the sharing of those stories that also help brighten up everyone else's day... so thanks for sharing it with us!
