So I received a 23andme kit as a gift.
I pondered a while if I would do it. In the end I decided to do it as a close relative already did it.
I was really not expecting anything shocking or revealing, but boy was I wrong.

Turns out I have a huge chunk of Neanderthal DNA, when I mean huge we are talking less than 2% but
it is still significant compared to the general population. I also found out I have French roots. I always
suspected but this confirmed it. I have an affinity for all things French and this would explain it.

Back to that Neanderthal bit. It is all on my Asian side, and when I looked at relatives some had an even bigger
percentage than me, like 98+%.........!!!!

So why did I put this in Cryptozoology? There is a legend in my family that we all came from Bears.
Maybe that's what they were called back then, but what if we really were a type of Bigfoot? Big Hairy Humans..hmm

PS. for those wondering, NO I do not look like a Neanderthal, I could pass more as the stereotypical little green alien before
I could a Neanderthal..

Although he prefers to be called "Sasquatch", people still refer to him as "Bigfoot". Yeti doesn't seem to be offended.

When you mention the possibility that Neanderthals were covered with hair, the thought popped in my head about the wooly rhinos recently discovered in Siberia. It would be revealing if they ever found a Neanderthal frozen in the permafrost in Siberia, Alaska or Canada.

I did an Ancestry.com one. They refused to give me my results, and I had to fight the MIB off.

Where did you find that info at? I need to browse mine more. I also did another ancestry kit. It puts me at 100% UK, mainly Britain and Ireland. 23andMe used to say I was 0.5% African but then it updated and didn't mention it, now I just checked and it's updated again.

Then here's my most recent Living DNA results.

I have a little neanderthal in me, but 1.7% inuit/eskimo which is actually asian genetics was my biggest surprise. All seems to be on the male genetics, passed on from male to male. The rest is all Finn and Swede with a little Estonian.

That inuit is not on my Ancestry determination, but on MyHeritage they dig deeper because it is based on that area of the world and the roots of their people. Ancestry did collect the DNA and the snps are just considered Finn but only a couple of percent of male Finns have that genetics and it comes from the Inuit.

I got two gene apps, Livewello and Prometheus that I used, they are reasonable priced. I know people who have the twenty three and me and that comes with their explanation of some medical stuff, but I like running the gene apps myself as they are newly discovered. I thought about getting a full genome test, but I really don't need it because if you eat to match what you need to eat, you won't get the disease. I have gone back to eating like my grandfather and my uncles on my fathers side with some real foods from my mothers side, and I have pretty much zeroed out the brainfog and reduced many of the health problems I was having over the years. Too bad I had not done it early because some damage is already done and it is now permanent. I wish I wasn't brainwashed into believing eating junk food was safe, and that tomatoes and other superfoods are good for you. I think that the misled health agencies are promoting unhealthy chemistries a lot, anything that dopes you up is considered a great choice.

Although I'm proud of both my Neanerthal and Denisovan roots, I also found

1) A half brother and his daughter, my niece. Seems my Father was sleeping around when I was in high school. He looks very much like my Dad, far more than I do. His birthday is the same day as my long-dead other brother.

2) My aunt had a kid fresh out of college she gave up for adoption. I found her and all her family. She doesn't want to talk about it, but the kids are interested. (So why is she on 23 and me?)

3) Found a first cousin once removed who knew little about the family. I was able to provide her with a more or less complete genealogy.

4) Found two of my cousins (same aunt as above) are actually half-siblings.

Never know what you're gonna find out there.

I am a very happy go lucky person, but a few unfortunate souls have pushed the wrong button and have felt my
wrath (it took a lot). It's very rare for me to lose my temper.
