Well, I got mine yesterday. Sad part is no bank in this country will cash it. I sent back my 1200 check to the Treasury Dept in Oct. Never heard back from them.
Could really use the 600 bucks also.

No bank will cash your check? Why not? You need the money but you sent it back?

I got a $400 deposit, but I think that was last year?

Is there another one on the loose?

I don’t qualify for the check and haven’t for any of them. It’s funny that they use a prior tax return year to determine eligibility. People that didn’t qualify in a prior year could be the people out of work in 2020 (to 2021). Dumbass government.

it was for 1200, not 1400 USD. I wrote void on it and sent them a letter asking them to direct deposit it into my foreign bank account. That was in October. Never heard back for them. So yesterday I got a 600 check. Hopefully I'll find someone in Okinawa to give me a helping hand on this one.
I did send the other one to my brother, but his bank in the States wouldn't cash it either.

The banks in this country are no longer cashing any foreign checks whether it be Social Security checks or otherwise.

Even the US Tokyo Embassy can't help us out on this one.

I got $807 in the form of a Visa card. I damn near threw it out as it looked like a scam. But it had both our names on it, so I checked it out and it was real. A bit of a song and dance to get the funds transferred to checking, but it ultimately worked.

Got mine a few weeks ago. Expecting to send the money back to them with my tax filing.

Interesting if banks are refusing the checks. No "full faith and credit" of the US government to not cut a bad check?

My partner hasn't gotten any of the "stimulus" checks, hoping she can claim it when she files her taxes but who knows...

Why you don't use the direct deposit option ?

Also, you could endorse it to a charity institution so you use it as tax deduction.

My Husband and I both received ours through direct deposit.

What is really strange is that my SS is a direct deposit to my Japanese bank. The stimulus money I now believe is not funneled through ones Social Security account, but the account one may have with the IRS, and in this case I don't have that type of IRS situation in my life these days.
