Question, has roberts still refused to preside over the trial?

If he has how can it be legal to put someone from the competing political party in a position to decide guilt or innocence?

Justice John Roberts has been acting very "strange" the past few months. Even moreso than usual for him.

Does being impeached in the House and the Senate carry any negative weight in the private sector?

It seems being impeached is only important to people are heavily into politics...either as politicians, or "experts" who study and follow politics.

The dems have reduced it to a meaningless majority vote.
No more, no less.

In 2 years biden will get the same meaningless treatment.

I hope that during the impeachment trial, Trump's team brings out evidence of election fraud as a way to justify Trump's own words.

That is, if the evil authoritarian left allows Trump to have a defense.

That is the plan. Huge shifts occurring right now in Donald Trump's legal team makeup. Ignorant-evil NBC says Donald Trump is now without a legal team. WRONG as usual, NBC.

To impeach in the House, a simple majority is needed.
In the Senate, a 2/3rd majority (67 votes) is needed.

Once the majority house vote is complete the president is impeached.

The trial takes place in the senate.

Yes. That is correct. In the public's mind, House impeachment is now no more serious than a traffic ticket.

Thats the thing thats been bothering me... because the process seems to resemble grand jury (house) to say there is a crime, Senate to convict of said crime.

So how can he be impeached when its just an accusation till the trial is complete?

The problem you're having is comparing it to a legal proceeding when it's a political proceeding. The President is impeached as soon as a House majority votes to affirm Articles of Impeachment. Even if not found guilty in the Senate the President is still impeached because that process took place regardless of the Senate outcome.

The house develops "articles of impeachment " and votes upon such, usually after committee hearings and debate. None of which occured this event.
Just articles and a vote.

Thus impeached.

The senate holds the trial which would result in removal, and disqualification, but the potus is gone and can not be removed further.

so the "trial" is literally just to see if they kick them out of office?

That seems odd to me, but then again we have gone from high crimes to claiming a tweet instigated the worlds worst insurrection.

Seems like impeachment is losing its punch like everything else they beat a drum about lately.

Yes, along with preventing someone from holding future office and removing any benefits of the past office.

America still achieved a ton of good milestones, even with Democrats acting as Satan's apprentices over the past 4 years.

Now they are consumed with guilt, and scared shi'tless. Democrats are even daring to use the term "unity".

You're right. F them and F anti-Trump Republicans.

It's not hard to figure out. It just requires a bit of common sense. Also, a trip to what ever search engine with the phrase "legal differences between and & or" would also help clear it up. Some people just refuse to hear it if it isn't spoon fed to them by the misledia.

CNN seems to be nervous that the 2 new Trump trial lawyers may be willing to do, what the 5 who quit/fired yesterday refused to do.

That is..to DEMONSTRATE President Trump's declaration that he won re-election, is NOT based on pie-in-the-sky wistfulness, but FACTS.

CNN Article: www.cnn.com...

The proofs will remove from the table the accusation that President Trump ignited an insurrection based on heresy, conspiracy theories, or pure ego.

Or CURRENT Presidents can be tried by the Senate even if they're fully aware that they're only pretending to be out of office.
Find them not guilty on a charge and you can't try them again a second time when they go back in office in the VERY near future.

Time just gave Trump his defense.

When describing the cabal of left-wing activists and corporations working to affect the results of the election, TIME claims, "They were not rigging the election; they were fortifying it."In other words, the election interference that they're acknowledging took place was meant for our own good because if they didn't get involved, President Trump's victory would have been certain.

This was spin. The entire long article was a propaganda piece posted ahead of the upcoming Senate impeachment trial in an attempt to justify their actions. They cheated. They know it. They know many of us know it. Now they fear too many people will be made aware of it, so they’re scrambling to get the narrative straight. For background, it’s better to read the analysis of Stacey Lennox at PJ Media than the original source:

And NOW if you even try to question it. They want YOU droned.

First, Trump was impeached WHILE President.

Two, NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.

Three, if Biden was to do something impeachable in the last days of his Presidency, you guys are saying you wouldn't impeach him? LOL! We all know that would be a lie. Of course you'd impeach him.

Four, the Senate MUST have a trial if article(s) of impeachment are presented to it.

Five, Republicans in the Senate value their jobs more than the Constitution, so no worries, Trump won't be convicted.

Six, Republicans are going to have a very hard time controlling the House or Senate for the next decade. And possibly longer than that. Americans don't like traitors.

I thought you needed a majority to impeach, if it's nothing more than a party line vote. maybe it's different. Could you explain how?
