I didn't know that about Eraserhead.

My brother came by with it one evening, along with a bottle of booze. He would do this on a regular basis. I always knew when he showed up on our movie night with a bottle of booze, it was going to be an awful movie, but also usually interesting.

I was drawn in by Eraserhead though. I had to watch it several times, and I saw something different each time.

I don't think it was a horrible movie, I think it was very intriguing, and very thought provoking. Definitely one that sticks with you for life.

Well, there was an ulterior motive for telling this story.

If we use it as a metaphor for our current political situation, perhaps this is the same fortitude we need to look toward the future with, rather than apathy.

Honestly, the reality of what we're dealing with right now politically is very similar to the trajectory of this story line.

Our current political situation, and politicians, are a baby born without a brain. The inevitability of life will eventually prevail, and then we will have to rebuild our lives.

Thank you for explaining. Needed this today. Things seem hung up, timeless and sad.

That baby in Eraserhead has haunted my dreams for 30 years. I love it though, it’s so damn awkward.
Sounds like your buddy Boo Radley had a rough go there for a while.

It’s streaming on HBO Max right now. I watched it again a few weeks ago.

Years ago the Varsity Theater in Baton Rouge - which was on the LSU college campus - used to play Eraserhead on Friday or Saturday nights as a midnight run. I was a kid. I remember seeing the poster and the poster and name alone was disturbing in a way that I couldn't understand. It just stuck with me. I have read one or two synopsis of the movie but never have seen it. I want to, in the way one is drawn to look at a bad wreck knowing that he does not want to see what's there but he can't help himself.

Yeah. It was one of those movies that really stuck with me too, even after all these years.

If you see it, prepare to watch it a couple of times. Not so much that you will understand it it any better after the third viewing than you did after the first, but you will pick up on things that you didn't with the precious viewings.

I know it is on Amazon Prime, I think it is on HBO also. YouTube has it for rent or purchase. If you decide to go for it.

Interesting you brought this up as I just had this conversation with a friend last week. We were talking about all the insanity going on, the push for the “great reset” and the direction it was taking us. When he asked what I thought, I told him that I honestly don’t think there’s much we can do in the big picture and that it’s going to have to unfortunately play itself out. Also mentioned that after that happens, which will probably take decades and generations, then maybe we’ll have a real “great reset” at which time history will begin to rinse and repeat itself as it always has.

Sadly I feel it’s going to get much worse before it gets better, although, I still try and maintain some form of hope and optimism. Just my take on the whole mess.
