As a rule, I am usually reluctant to take even aspirin or tylenol or any OTC meds. So, I totally agree with you, but right now, not taking them is not an option...not even close!

Aspirin and Tylenol won't work. Aleve is good but after a while it doesn't target the pain anymore and only makes you sleepy all day.

As I told you, I take 5 Advil liquid gels. Then I wait about half hour and go bed. Next day, after 12 hours, I do that again.

After second shot the pain goes down to 2 or 3 (scale 1 to 10).

Doctor used to give me Naproxen 800mg. If you do the math, it's about same milligrams I do with my OTC.

You need to recover your ability to sleep again and pain is the problem.

Sleeping pills will make you experience pain in your dreams, that sucks, I've been there. Then you wake up in bad mood and start fighting with everyone for no reason.

Always remember this is my personal experience, not a professional advice.

Great suggestion. I have been generally trying this, but not in a focused way.

Going forward I think I will definitely focus on this thought process more directly.

Taking a regular dose of anti-inflammatory like naproxen would help. I'm talking twice daily. It's not a direct pain med, but it targets the swelling that's part of the problem causing the pain.

The last regular medication I cut off was my twice daily prescription naproxen. The first ones I cut were the prescription pain meds, and there was a day I dove back into them. There was another day I wanted, but I couldn't find them, so I had to just go with it.

The other thing I told myself through all of it was that the only way out was forward. You can't go back. Realistically for you, going back ceased to be an option the day you fell on that shoulder.

So ... onward as hard as it seems. It will all only have to get better sooner or later.

1. Yes, I have started PT now. It actually feels great...so far. Only problem I've found is about 6-8 hours afterwards major discomfort follows.

2. Right shoulder. Am right handed also.

Thanks for the suggestion. As noted above, I have been trying some of that, but will try to be more focused going forward.

All,

Well, some good news, a little bit anyway. I actually managed to get almost 6 whopping contiguous hours of sleep last night! WOO HOO!!!

I think part of this was just being totally exhausted, but I'll take what I can get. Almost 6 hours is like 2-3x what I've been able to get in the past 2+ weeks, so I'm pretty pleased with that!

Many years ago I went on about a 20 mile trek in the Wyoming mountains. The last 7 miles of this trek was an unrelenting uphill grade which rose some 6,500 vertical feet. It wasn't that it was particularly steep, but the uphill grade never relented the entire last 7 miles. With a 60+ lb. pack and the heat of late July, it was a pretty tough grind. The prize at the end was a high mountain lake. I remember basically collapsing without even removing my pack at the very end. Last night I put myself (mentally) back at the end of that same trek, remembering how tired I was. I remember being so tired not even pain mattered. This actually helped putting me to sleep (finally) I think.

Anyway, hopefully at least some progress. Certainly in a little better frame of mind today at least.

Whoop! Whoop! That's the way to do it! PMA!

Don't know whether you believe in absent/distance healing but I'll see if your 'meditative self' would like some and if so, will send.
Glad you've started on physio too.

Just did a protein / vitamin / sugar bomb for breakfast this morning too.

5 Tbl - Carnation powdered instant breakfast
1 giant scoop - Powdered Muscle Milk
1 Squirt - Hershey's dark chocolate milk flavoring
14oz - 2% milk

Along with that I took a big multi-vitamin, and before that I slugged down an 8oz electrolyte replacement solution.

This completely run-down state has GOT TO GO!

We'll see if this helps. Certainly can't hurt at this point!

the feeling is loss of control. You are used to having some level of control over things you deal with. I had this happen on a trip, got stuck in an airport and sort of lost it. Lucky I had my wife with me to keep me from flipping totally out. It got better, and I learned that I don't ever need to put myself in a position like that again. So long story short, it will pass, you will get through this, and it will get better. Try to get that thought in your head to replace those other thoughts.

I know it seems stupid to have to lie to yourself, but it does work.
Good luck brother.

Yeah. Loss of control is a hard one.

It motivated me to get myself put back together, but I got so mad not being able to do things at times.

I think in my case it helped that I'd had frozen shoulder in the left those few years prior. Those set in gradually so you slowly lose it, but then you spend months to years without range of motion because your shoulder just won't move.

I have been having trouble sleeping as well and have
been since mid-december.I have trouble with my hands
going numb while I'm sleeping and they keep waking me
up.Mostly my pinkie fingers are going numb on both hands.

I get about an hour or two of sleep, wake up to go to the
bathroom and then it starts.I try going back to sleep and
my fingers start going numb.I am going to try and remember
to call my doctor and make an appointment.I can't keep
living like this on very little sleep.
I hope you get to feeling better soon, mama
One thing I did forget to mention, both of my elbows have
been locked for a couple of years now.I have wondered if
that could be related to my fingers going numb.

Hi,

I had a similar problem with my pinkie and ring fingers going numb. After much research turned out it was a compressed ulnar nerve in my elbow, medical term is cubital tunnel syndrome. Try as much as you can to sleep on your back and keep your arms at your side without putting weight on your elbows by laying on them. Also every other day perform stretches on your arms to loosen up the connecting tunnel pathways for the nerve. Put your hand straight out in front of you with palm up and point your fingers toward the ground as far as you can. Will feel tightness from your wrist to elbow along inside of forearm if you're doing it correctly. Don't overstretch, hold this position for a few minutes then bend and flex arm and repeat a few times. Also avoid putting any pressure on your elbows by leaning them on a desk to support your weight etc.

The following stretches worked wonders for me and i no longer have any problems with my fingers other than work related wear and tear.

Redvein Kratom

6 pills 45 min before bedtime, youll be out like a light.

Im a nurse and i have horrible knee and back pain, and I refuse to do prescription drugs.

Theres controversy over Kratom, but its natural, its a leaf, and I have been taking it for YEARS to manage my pain and stress.

Your story scares me!! Here's why...

A colleague of mine had the exact same symptoms, and I mean exactly. He went to the doctor, got referred a couple of times and wound with a cardiologist at the Mayo Clinic in MN. Diagnosis - (don't recall the medical terms anymore but) thickened heart muscle and a bunch of other cardiac related issues. It was Terminal, save for one very risky and very experimental procedure which had only been performed on a handful of people and had less than a 40% chance for success.

Not too long after that he was laying on an operating room table with his heart completely removed out of his chest for over 6 hours. They literally used a device like a potato peeler to shave down the walls of his heart! **shudder, shudder** They also replaced all of his heart valves with paper ones. It was a major operation, obviously, and took him out for almost a year. He survived, but his descriptions of the ordeal would send chills down even Jeffery Dahmer's spine!

Go get that checked out!!

Before worrying about serious heart problems please try the exercises I suggested. Considering the symptoms and problems you have with elbow joints I would expect this is related to your ulnar nerve. Nerve gliding will hopefully help.

I forgot who it was in this post that suggested Delta 8 gummies, but I finally got some, wow. It takes the edge off and does so for a while, knocked down the pain in my left foot that has been operated on and the pain in my lower left-back. While it isn't a sleeping pill, they make me drowsy and it's good restful sleep. I'm normally a raging insomniac even melatonin was only partially effective. Not only that it doesn't mess with my blood pressure, no headaches, and hangovers
