It's pretty much death to anyone under 25 as mum and dad and granny are on there.

It was pretty clear with the Niemöller reference. Your inability to make the connection with that and the statement above is a YOU thing, not a me thing. If you dont know who he is or why he was famous, or how it related to the context of my post, perhaps you should look it up. But dont put words in my mouth and extrapolate something that wasnt there because you dont understand context

I didn’t ask about the exact details, but he is a right wing nut job Trump fan... so, obviously he was posting some kind of misinformation.

I understand why people still use FB though, even when they get burned like that for simply expressing their bat s# crazy views.

I’m not on it, so I’ll generally get a text from my old man or brothers a day before some family function I gotta rock up too, which has been planned though FB for weeks.

So yeah, It’d be a lot more convenient to have a FB account. But it’s just so damn corny... so I just refuse to have one.

Star for your honesty. That's pretty much all I use facebook for. The memes are lit for sure.

The only other thing I use it for is to have a #e ton of media at my fingertips. I follow all different news stations and keep up with world events that way. I figure if I follow a lot of different ones then the truth has to be somewhere between them all.

I wish that were true, my 12 year old is...I've never been.

Heck, I signed up on Facebook MANY moons ago. Back when it was just a personal gathering place and they wouldn't even allow commercially oriented accounts, pages, or groups. I thought it might help promote some websites I had set up, but when I found that wasn't allowed, I really didn't need them for anything else. Never used it at all in all these years, but I still had an account there. Honestly, nowadays I just prefer the forum based sites for information I am searching for. The Facebook "structure" just never appealed to me at all. Trying to find answers to questions I had about things or just doing research for products and such just proved to be too much of a challenge and I stopped trying.

Heck, I was on the internet when usenet was the only thing going for anything like a forum or anything used for social discourse. For that matter, I can remember logging into The Source using my 2400 baud modem, way back when. The NRA used to have a dial in group that I used to log into too back then.

So anyway, I deleted my Facebook account last week. Surely not likely to miss it, as I never did when I had an account and didn't use it. Censorship is a two way street, in my opinion, and I felt I should make my point by censoring any access I might have with Facebook.

As for Twitter, well, just never had the inclination to become a "twit", so I declined. Just as well, it seems.

The internet got along just fine without those social insanity sites in the past, and my guess it would get along just fine without them now and in the future.

Just my opinion, but censoring contrary opinions is just admitting defeat that you can't support your side with convincing facts and details. In effect, such sites are just clapping their hands tightly over their ears yelling nonsense to just drown out what they don't want to hear. Pretty pathetic, IMHO.

But give those pathetic people the power to shut down ALL contrary views, well, then you have trouble on your hands. The people who control those people can really pretty much do whatever they want, because no one outside of their group will likely ever even hear about it. We are in very dangerous times.

Someone outside of the USA said that we are so lucky to have Biden as President. "He seems like-able, and a great thinker."

To which I said:

Suddenly I'm locked out of FB for 24 hours because I violated their Community Standards. For paraphrasing what our current President has done and said on the campaign trail.

Did he not say...eventually, "I'll slap you" when face to face and being heckled? However, Trump when being heckled did tell the rally crowd to, "punch him in the face" and some arsehole did do a suckerpunch on a protestor, while Trump hid behind the mikestand.

Okay, Facebook is a pain in the arse in a lot of ways, but not in this case....as in being a dick!

A few years ago I used a community page on FB to wreak absolute havoc in local politics.

In a town of 2000 homes, I had 1000 local followers and several years of right-to-know documents. I destroyed 30 years of politician's fake credibility with $600 in adverts, it was mental. Those were good times.

Last week, I sent an email to all of my family, friends, and contacts explaining that I am deleting my Facebook account. I provided several email accounts, my phone and text number, and Skype contact information.

I further advised that I refuse to legitimize an anti-American social media platform via my participation in and acceptance of their services. Their attempts to stifle free speech and promote a controlling global influence is unacceptable.

Four of my recipients copied my message, inserted their information, and closed their Facebook accounts, as well. Hopefully, they have contacts that will follow suit.

Page 1 of this thread is all responses that show the posters don’t understand the point of your OP. “Just stop using Facebook.”

And this is why America is gone. Too many people not admitting that the censorship is the giant signal that the “just don’t use Facebook/Twitter/etc” are the reason America is dead.

Since we are talking about facebook, I am going to drift off topic a little. I've noticed that I had a friend request accepted and I never sent the person a friend request. I checked and it says they accepted my friend request. There is nothing about their page that would have me send them a request and I never send them anyway. I'm not there to meet people I don't already know from somewhere else.
