A new virus that has already claimed the life of at least 39 people,mainly children in Angola, seems to be targeting only children up to 5 years old so far. The illness is puzzling, to say the least, as of yet no-one knows what causes it, or how to treat it.

GENEVA, Switzerland (AP) -- The Ebola-like mystery ailment that has killed at least 39 people in Angola over the past three months is targeting primarily children under 5, the U.N. health agency said Friday.

While the disease in Angola's northern province of Uige has still not been identified, health officials believe the illness is an acute hemorrhagic fever related to the Ebola virus, said Dick Thompson, spokesman for the World Health Organization.

But unlike Ebola, which tends to predominantly affect the adult population, four out of five cases of this new ailment have been children, Thompson said.

This is scary, when Aids first started, nobody knew what caused it at first, or how to treat it, and it claimed millions of lives. This mystery illness can claim many more lives because they have no idea what to do to treat it, or what to say to the people in Angola to avoid getting it, to protect their children.
I hope they find out soon, what causes it as it is killing only small children.
