Avatars (How to)

Hey All,

So, I'm trying to figure out how to upload an Avatar and save it to my Account Profile. I searched "Avatar" and came up with some instructions dating from 2012 but, I think its outdated cuz I dont see the Tools option in the tollbar uptop. Anyone know if the 2012 instructions tutorial is still valid?

Yea it has changed

Click the circle with the arrow pointing down fifth from the left at the top.

Click on upload your image on the cloud icon

once it's loaded and in your library

Click the image and at the top, there will be symbols the one that looks like a head and body click that and it should save as your avatar

Thanks Guys, I did it but, seems that I have 2 different pics: 1 for Avatar and 1 for profile background. How can I make them all one like you?

Instructions and assistance are available in the Avatar Creations thread linked in Zarniwoops banner.

It's a little complicated and the folks there have premade examples and instructions posted and are also willing to do the heavy lifting for new members most of the time.

Between these lines is a transparent gif. If you use this as your avatar, it will stretch your profile so that you can see the full background image.

Get your background image to a width of 200 pix (198 is shown) and a maximum lenght of 1600pixels...

Zarniwoop already gave you the transparant avatar..

Looks good!!!

You could stretch that picture out a bit so it doesn't repeat in your stats...you can go as long as 1600pixels for those long posts.

Oh ok, sounds good, so how do you stretch it like that? In microsoft paint, it looks like everything you type into horizontal translates over to vertical as well; won't that make my pic too wide again and cut off my deer face ?

I use Photoshop to create avatars.

If you only strech the picture in lenght it will loose it's proportion and you'll end up with a streched out deer.

The trick is to create a background, cut out your deer and place it on the background.

As I said...I would start with separating your deer from it's background..



And after that anything goes...

Hey OP,

So , I think that I've concluded that Photoshop is a little beyond me currently, lol. Can my deer be put into some kind of a cool scenic-vista type background or something? (BTW, Queensryche is one of my fave all-time bands!)

I have to "borrow" a body if we want it to be in the open like a field...

I just picked a forest scene with some water because it felt more natural but you can pick any background you like and post it here, I'll place your dear in it...

ETA: I always start out with a rough setup (like this one) when we find something you like I polish it up so try to look through the imperfections.
