After deadly Capitol riot, Army looking at which troops require security screening ahead of Biden inauguration.

The Army is working to determine which National Guard troops assisting the Jan. 20 presidential inauguration require additional security checks, ...

... to review the backgrounds of any troops involved in inauguration security, “to ensure that deployed members are not sympathetic to domestic terrorists.”

This is where we have arrived in America.

Can anyone identify a single government institution in the US that isn't completely dysfunctional at this point?

If one had written 10 years ago that any of what we see today would be possible in a decade, you'd be laughed at as a complete crackpot who lost touch with reality.

Welcome to life imitating fiction. You are all trapped in a Lewis Carroll novel now.

Probably tongue in cheek on your behalf but very short sited to put the blame on any individual. Money or power perhaps....

Joe Biden must have asked the military guys on his side to scrutinize certain soldiers. If they voted for President Trump, their service file may be flagged, and they'll be put on porta-potty duty across the street.

Also

Biden is replacing some Secret Service guardians, because he feels threatened.

Some Democrats in Congress are afraid their colleagues will kill them.

The request came from Rep. Jason Crow, D-Colo.

We now live in a world where 'probable cause' can be as simple as who you voted for in an election.

That's probably legal.

I wonder if anyone in the medical profession will start checking on life-saving procedures based on voting history.

Not a lot a president can do to fix America. After all a president is only in office for 4 or 8 yrs. when the legislative branch who has the power to fix all the wrongs with laws has all of the domestic power. Some congress folks have been in office longer than 30 years. One has been in office for more than 50 years.

Yes. That's the way the system is set up.
Checks. Balances.

Congress has, however, abrogated much of its power.

I remember it clearly under Bush sr., Clinton, Bush part 2, and Obama. What’s new?

Hardly abrogated anything. Look at how long it took them to get stimulus out. Now compare how long it took them to get a second impeachment vote on the floor of the house. They pretend to be powerless but it's bs and the American people know it.

An impeachment requires only a House vote. The House approved a second relief package many months ago. McConnell refused to take it to the floor of the Senate, refused to allow it to be considered. Sort of like how he refused to consider Garland's confirmation.

But perhaps you misunderstood what I meant by abrogation of power. Years ago it would take Congressional approval to take military action. They abrogated that power. Years ago military budgets could not be diverted to things like a stupid wall. Congress abrogated that power.

An impeachment requires only a House vote.

And therein lies the problem.
