Pay particular attention to the grade of gold and silver you purchase, bullion is .999 silver, most hall marked silver is .925 (sterling), so make allowance for the difference in grades. Gold is 24 carat pure but is sold as jewellery as 9ct, 18ct and 22ct. 14ct tends to be continental and 15ct is Victorian or older.

Check the scrap spot buying price first online (currently in the UK .925 silver is .51 pence per gram or £15.86 per TROY ounce - please note that a Troy ounce is not the same as an ordinary ounce) - and then make your buying decision accordingly.

If buying bullion go to the US or Canadian Mint (or the mint of your own country), buy physical rather than digital metals and have it in your hand rather than let them store it !

The list of 'happenings' you have posted there Cranky sounds as if it could be an amalgamation of different countries 'end time' prophecies !

Certainly the 'ravens will starve' could allude to the UK (ravens vacating the Tower of London), the bear one must be Russia, the rock upon the 7 hills is the Vatican in Rome, the black flag implies an Islamic takeover and almost definitely the Dragon is China.
