I've stated many times that convenience is what destroys a nation. Right now we are having one of the worst weathers we've seen for many years. As a result many people failed to realize that one must learn and be prepared to live without all the modern day conveniences we were led to believe we must have. As a result, a nation that relies on the convenience of being ill prepared for natural disasters is bound to collapse suddenly, also please note that when the politicians mention national security they only mean it as a word of convenience to control their people, not to protect their people for the good will of its nation. We have seen this with the last 3 administrations in Washington DC. Look at what has happened to the convenience of living around the homeless, sheltering without the thought of the convenience of the private and govt. assistance. Many nations don't have this and that is why they have a strong national and personal pride.
Don't let your life become too convenient due too the thought that the people in govt will come to your aid. Natural disasters and man made disasters ( political that is ) takes time to be recused from.

Just food for thought. We see it when the grocery stores close down for even 2 days.

Life isn't too convenient for me. I had to feed the cats, feed the fish, feed the deer, and walk down to the end of the driveway to get the mail today.....actually, come to think about it I drove that five hundred feet each way instead of walking because the driveway was so icy.....I guess I am spoiled, I could have taken a bucket of sand and walked down there and spread it.

But right now, I am fully engulfed in technology messaging people because I made the stuffing and cleaned and stuffed the chicken and stuck it in the ELECTRIC stove instead of starting a fire in the kitchen wood stove. I think I should go lay down with the cat since I worked so hard today.

Whoa, whoa.

You did all that without hitting a peace pipe?

I can't imagine most posters making it past 12 without that.

Brave New World, first published in 1931 and used for the last 45 years by the left and oppositionist centre to criticise capitalism.

Better late than never. Welcome aboard!

Have you heard of the "mouse utopia experiments"?

A doctor in the 1960s decided to see what would happen if he provided a huge living area free from predators with food and water in abundance for a small group of mice, who then bred into a bigger group etc.

Easy life for the mice huh?
Not for long-

At first, the mice did well.
Their numbers doubled every 55 days. But after 600 days, with enough space to accommodate as many as another 1,600 rodents, the population peaked at 2,200 and began to decline precipitously—straight down to the extinction of the entire colony—in spite of their material needs being met with no effort required on the part of any mouse.

The turning point in this mouse utopia, Calhoun observed, occurred on Day 315 when the first signs appeared of a breakdown in social norms and structure. Aberrations included the following: females abandoning their young; males no longer defending their territory; and both sexes becoming more violent and aggressive. Deviant behavior, sexual and social, mounted with each passing day. The last thousand mice to be born tended to avoid stressful activity and focused their attention increasingly on themselves.

fee.org...

So,you could say that for mice at least-If you make their lives too convienient, which makes them shut down from doing all the stuff they are designed for-searching for food/running from cats etc

Well, thats one way to totally break "mouse civilisation"

Could the same be applied to human civilisation?
The doctor who did the study seemed to think so.

Yes, I have and I think that at the time I said to myself, yep , it's convenience that will destroy me. Little did I actually think of the nation as a whole though. I kept my tough thoughts on this all these years and learned one thing, well, actually two, count on yourself for survival and 2 , don't rely on the govt once too much convenience they make for themselves. It's a trap they set for all of us if we follow.
The voting machines are a classic example. Convenience, right !

Seems a little too similar to current humans.

Maybe if they lasted another year they'd start same sex groups and attacking those of the opposite gender.

Good thing they can't talk or mice would have pegged cancel culture first.

Ever watch TLC show called 600lb? People who weigh 600 pounds plus and not from some genetic disorder but from over eating...actually the spirit of gluttony has a hold of them.

So these heavy people are recorded and with amazement these people eat everything in sight NON STOP, a few dying.

Now I do see 300-400 lb people in Europe but in USA you see them everywhere. Does this involve convenience as well?

I think modern society makes all of us a bit mad..
You get born into a body designed and honed over countless eons to be the apex predator/explorer/survival hunter of the planet, perfectly tuned for the job-then you spend your life getting made to sit in boxes, learn rules and limits and press buttons and move about in metal tubes or cans, off to school, office, factory whatever BS..

That's not what we are designed for,and I reckon thats why humans have gone collectivley insane.

I think once you tune into another culture and see the their life's habit, what you say will hit home with a true reality of what you wrote.

If you want to talk about spirits, shall we address the beheadings on Europe subways or burning families alive in apartments while blocking firemen?

Everyone is guilty of harboring a spirit, some are just proud of it.

Bravo! I have tried to put it into words several times and always failed. You pretty much nailed it IMO. I have said all along that what we have and are being conditioned into is un natural.

Interesting study, coincidentally I was thinking earlier today how people actually seem to make life hard for themselves if it gets too easy. We are our own worst enemy in many ways... even if we manage to become a millionaire and have everything we want, we still find ways to be unhappy.

It's interesting to note that before Covid-19 happened the world was in a very good place, economies were booming and finally recovering from the '08 collapse, unemployment was hitting record lows in many nations, and we were living in the most peaceful times in human history, in large part due to the many historic peace deals that Trump made happen.

How quickly all of that progress can be turned around... now we have massive economic problems and massive unemployment which will cause problems for many years to come. What's really sad to me is that all of this suffering could have been avoided, it's almost entirely self-inflicted as a result of fear and propaganda.

That's what my post is all about. Self-inflicted of conveniences. Maybe the cavemen had it right after all.
