Why bother going through the formalities. Apple should just ban parlor and anyone else they want to ban.

You don't need an Apple App Store version of parlor in order to view and use it.

Who is in charge of the internet? Shutting that down is how you stop Communications.

At this point and I even thought this before the capitol protests, it's better to pull back and not worry about every little thing that happens. Screw the social media it's partly to blame for America's psychosis anyway. The left are going to take full advantage of every opportunity to punish the conservatives best way is to take the lumps and not give them the satisfaction of bitching and complaining about it. Pull back be patience they will screw up eventually they always do.

I totally disagree. Name one time sitting back and taking lumps has gotten anyone in history.
Also, these people will not give you back your rights when they are taken from you. That’s just not going to happen

Free speech does not include terrorist threats, incitement of terrorism, planning terrorism, and the like.

So you want to ban Antifa, BLM, ISIS, Al Qeda from Twitter?

The reality is ALL of the social media platforms have users which make threats EVERY SINGLE DAY, probably at least once a second.

Again, this has nothing to do with morals, the Left has no morals.

Actually, there is a litmus test. And it's pretty much what I said.

It's 1984 all over the place.

And ironically Apple won't be throwing the hammer this time.

I really hope more people get that reference than I think will.

Yeah... the irony of that ad now is not lost on me.

I think most people looked to the elections as a remedy, and now that's done.

So we'll see if people start fighting back. Wednesday was a pathetic show for fighting. It was just the beginning of anger showing up. But if they keep putting on the pressure, I expect things will get a lot more intense and bad.

They absolutely know this. Why do you think they are trying to shut down every avenue for discussion? They want to make it harder for them to organize regardless of the end goal. They don’t even want you to show up and scream from 1,000 feet away about your displeasure. They don’t want people to be able to get together online and share information about what they are doing next or how rights are being violated. They are going to get it too. In the name of safety, they are going to get it.

Big tech behaves as an arm of government, and has no accountability. This charade won’t last. a reply to: Arizonaguy

If they're doing the above, of course.

And we did ban ISI and Al Qaeda, other than when we were watching their accounts.

We?

Social Media platforms are corporations. They are not the government. They have the right to refuse service to anyone who violates their T&Cs just like your local 7-11 can. They have rules for conduct and if you don't like the rules, go play elsewhere. Deal with it and stop whining.

I mentioned to my wife this morning that during the American Revolution they used to meet in churches and taverns. I then said, "And what did they close due to Covid? Churches and bars".

Apple is not social media, and neither is Google.
I agree they are private corporations, but since they are also recipients of tax breaks, and government contracts and subsidies they should either...
A. Be held to a higher standard to retain these priveleges

or...
B. Pay back the money and end all business with the government.

A huge case could be built that these businesses have only gotten this big because of the government ( We The People )
They shouldn't be allowed to violate the trust of the same people that allowed them to succeed without repurcussions

Google is still being sued as a monopoly by the states, but now the Federal government won't remain a part of that suit so it will be harder to win.

So there is still that.

Sorry but that is not how free markets work. More importantly, markets are efficient. If you have a better mousetrap then introduce it and the market will respond.

If you don't like something don't buy it.

Go play on Parler if Twitter doesn't make you feel good.

If you don't like Google as a search engine, you can still use Yahoo, even AOl, or Ask.com or Baidu, Excite, Wolfman Alpha, Yandex, Lycos, Chacha.com, Brave, Duck Duck go.

That's not a monopoly, no one is forced to use Google. I use Duck Duck Go.

This Purge is even giving the ACLU pause.

And when the ACLU is concerned ... there might be something to think about.

Notice that even they realize that if this can come for people they don't like, it can just as easily come for the ones they do? They see the danger here even if many of you don't.

Almost all search engines use the algorithm as their basis. Google hogs so much of the market share that it dictates.

What does the free market have to do with tax breaks, subsidies, and government contracts?
