My buddy went. He swears breaking through to the capitol building was a setup.

He stayed the whole time, took some pictures, got gassed.

I can tell you one one who wasn't. Trump.

Well yes, he was in DC but did not take part in the march for his own presidency. Sure he exhorted the crowd and gave a speech. He stood there and told them that ''we'' will walk to the capital''. His speech was riddled with ''we, we we''. At one point he said ''and I will be with you''. Yet where was he after that. Did he walk with them to the capital? Did he push with them as they broke though the barricades? Was he with them as they pushed past security personnel?

The answer to all of those question is no. He was back in the safety of his office watching them on TV. While they were risking their lives and futures to secure his future in the WH, he was sitting in comfort watching them on the tube. And were were his kids, the family cheerleaders, were they there either? Nope none of em. All of them were cheering from their positions of comfort and safety.

of course he wasn't going to risk his own life, although that would have been the 2nd best thing to happen to him...shot to death by the senate sergeant at arms.
(the best thing that could happen for the country would be Pence declares him unfit for office and takes over for the next few days, saving the republican party and opens the door for him to run in 2024.)

Do you think the GOP will be able to survive after this humiliation they brought on themselves?

Humiliation in reference to failure of democracy to have a clear and transparent election.

This was not a win for the free world.

As someone who has voted republican for every election up until the 2016 election, I certainly hope they figure out a way to fix it. It would be nice to vote republican again, but more importantly there must be at least one other party in order to maintain a balance of power. Without this the democrats would become too powerful.

I was gonna go but truthfully lost interest. And decided it wouldn't
be smart to spend the money. Cause I get pretty crazy on road trips
by nature. I drive truck so I know every where to go when I'm not
driving a rig. I have a tendency get distracted. Leave it at that.

No the humiliation of trump ordering his followers to march on the capital building and the aftermath. This stink will follow every GOP candidate around for a decade. When and if they decide to run...the first question from the opposition will be.....were you a trump supporter? This will have ramification not just on a national level but also on state, county and local elections.

www.bbc.com...

True...this was not a win for the free world.

Beautifully stated and it is so true, the danger is when either party has complete control. Especially in these times. Would so want the US to get more than 2 parties to be influential, to dilute the power and maintain some checks and balances.
