One of the things I wanted this Christmas was a floating cloud lamp. Apparently they are very expensive and so we couldn't afford it.

So my wife, being the bestest person she is, made one.



It's "floating" above my gun safe.

My wife is awesome.

Ask her to add a lightning detector w/ some WS2812b lighting...

If you're bored, you could count the seconds between cloud flashes and the thunder... or add a LED and display the calculated distance and forget the counting part...

Now I wanna make one.

Ready for how she made it?

We had a nice gift (a great ham we ate on tonight from a very kind and generous friend) that came in a styrofoam cooler in dry ice.

She took a screwdriver and poked about 100 holes all through it.

Then she threaded an LED base for an object d'art I bought her a few years ago and threaded that into the box.

Then she took her trusty glue gun and took poly fibre fill and covered the box.

That is really cool. I am going to show this to my daughter. She has been wanting to do a whole wall like this; I’m just not sure if I want the poly fibre fill covering a whole wall.

Add a couple rings of like pole magnets at the bottom and the base and you have a floaty version.

I think that is so cool! Time and thought went into this gift and you are right she is special... She did an awesome job and you are happy and that is what counts!!!!! Tell her to keep up her awesomeness
