...until you have to replace the batteries! Then they're not so great anymore.

We traded our hybrid Lexus before having to pay 8K for a replacement battery

They are slightly less now but still over 6K

And here's one of the (many) hypocrisies of the green movement. People go out on the internet, or craigslist, or whatever and they find people who will replace their $8k batteries for $3k bucks. Then they go around bragging about how green they are and virtue shaming people, and talking about how the $8k numbers floating around are just lies perpetuated by the lying Trumpette anti-greenies. But they're not lies at all. The reason some of these places can swap them so cheap is because they're dumping the batteries somewhere, and avoiding the hazmat disposal fees (which can be more than the batteries themselves)! So, their "green" car leaves behind it a trail of hazmat polluting lakes, rivers and ground water because they got tossed in a ditch, canal or off a bridge somewhere at night.

This is probably one of the most maddening things of all about electric vehicles to me!

How come? Is the world ending? If it is, then he won't have to pay off the rest of the loan.

Read the small print.
This is a bad time for people to be getting in debt at some point it may cost you a 100$ for some bread.

We have both.

The Trailblazer is the compact SUV. It's a little bigger than the Trax but smaller than the Equinox.

The Blazer is bigger than Equinox but smaller than the Traverse.

If you buy a brand new 2021 car without using a dealer you're buying a stolen vehicle.

If that's a "Blazer", I'm a reptilian lizard!!

I used to collect, build and restore true Blazers and Jimmy's. My last one was a '76 GMC Jimmy which I put an 800 hp Corvette LT-1 4-bolt mains, 750 cfm Holley double-pumper carb, Crane racing cam, Black Jack headers and a 2-1/2" exhaust. It wasn't stock, but it would leap off the ground about 3" vertically, from a standing start, to the point you could see daylight under all four tires! When it hit the ground, all fours were burning down the house, and when it hooked up there wasn't much which could beat it in 1,250 feet. The bracket pro boys could beat me easy, but the street boys didn't have a chance flat out.

Man, I loved that Blazer/Jimmy! That was my meanest build, but I had a couple others I built as just slow wheelers, and they were every bit as much fun.

Sorry, but that doesn't look like a "Blazer" to me...it looks like a SUV hybrid. (honestly, sorry)

Yea they're all Crossovers now...

The days of real trucks and SUVs are gone...

I wish they still had the Suburban...

I'll stick with my full size gas eating Escalade....thanks.

Also have an old 06 V8 Dakota 4x for our small farm.

I understand, it's not the Blazer that used to be. Would've been cool if they would have brought back some that old school feeling.

That being said, I think its very cool / sporty looking and I do enjoy driving it.

645 dollars a month before insurance..?

What the actual eff.. might as well lay down the backseat and put a mattress in the back..

You can at least recoup some money by renting it out as an air bnb at night...

I sell Subarus, $40k sounds like a top of the line, XT (Turbo) Touring model. Use TrueCar or Costco, get yourself a great price without the hassle. Outbacks range from ~$26-40k.

I don't know what market you're in - we get a lot of customers from all over the country fly in to us or even pay to have cars shipped because their local dealers are charging MSRP or close to it.

Shop around a bit, but not in person. Use the internet and a burner email address. If you're paying $4-5k below MSRP, depending on the model configuration, you got a good deal. MSRP is a meaningless number to compare from one brand to another, as some have massive markups, while others don't, but as a gauge for this particular model, that's where we're at.

And in this day and age, get a comprehensive extended warranty if you're keeping the car.

You get what you pay for. And Ford Escapes are trash.

Why are you paying $40k for a new Subaru? :
www.autotrader.com...

The "Premium" trim line is the sweet spot for an Outback. They hold their value well, are easy & cheap to maintain and are a good deal if you shop around. Also... try to put some cash down if you can to get your monthly payment down.

Agreed, except for the cash down part. 0% interest. Your money's worth less later than it is now, give it to them later.

You make valid points , and it seems to be really good advice your giving as an "insider".

The comment that piqued my interest was :

"use the internet and a burner email"

Why is the burner email a good idea when doing something as innocuous as searching for the best price on a car?

That has me curious.

I'll take this one, if I may....

Dealerships have BDC's - "Business Development". Go to a dealership or even 3rd party website, browse some cars, leave your email address and maybe phone # ... every dealership within 100 miles will call and email, hoping to set an appointment to get you to come in.
