Sorry to disrupt the fear porn, reality-tv show soap opera world that some people enjoy laarping around in, but covid19 is just a brand name for the common corona virus and the tests are absolute garbage. Just a brand name to promote fear. used to be ISIS, sometimes school shootings, but now it's a global pandemic. Anyways, it's just overblown fear with a hidden agenda behind it.
If you know this already and just enjoy laarping along with the immersive performance, then you should know that some people are too gullible and might not realize that you're just kidding.
And if you are one of the gullible ones, then please WAKE UP!

I'm willing to bet that not only was this story conceived months ago, but the article itself was probably written back in June or so as a template with names filled in later.
And the next manufactured talking point will be : "this one is much deadlier for young folks!"
....be smarter than those who wish to control you...

The first case of UK COVID-19 mutation found in US was about to post LOL. It's the UK strain an I agree it's here and containing it will be unsuccessful. Of course, the UK is freaking out as it does seem to be more contagious rumors of their hospitals being overwhelmed but deaths aren't matching the spike.
Will add this caveat
UK Summary
The latest R number is estimated at 1.1 to 1.3 with a daily infection growth rate range of +1% to +6% as of 24 December 2020.
1.1 to 1.3 is where most of the US is already

The contagious new COVID-19 mutation from the UK has officially made it to the United States, Colorado health officials said Tuesday.
The COVID-19 variant that UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has warned could be 70 percent more transmissible was identified in an Elbert County man in his 20s, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis said in a statement.
“There is a lot we don’t know about this new COVID-19 variant, but scientists in the United Kingdom are warning the world that it is significantly more contagious,” Polis said in a statement posted on Twitter.

All kidding aside, and someone's probably already said this, but this is good news.
Viruses attenuate.
They change, they mutate.
They become less lethal, more infective, because they want to "live" and killing the host is bad for survival.

Just like the first version too little too late followed by too much too late followed by lockdowns for too long. And just in time for the inauguration! Who'da thunk it.
If President Biden's steal is successful, we will all be locked down tight for a full year.
Darkest gloomiest days are ahead of us, will be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Rumours of hospitals being overwhelmed?
From the Guardian...
It's more than a rumour.
ETA- Surely it would be impossible for a Colorado resident who doesn't travel to get the new UK strain? Unless Covid-19 is mutating the same way everywhere?

That's a venti soymilk with a splash of organic Darjeeling.
DB drinks it from his mason jar while admiring his beard glitter.
So like other covid virus or the common cold easy to spread and not very dangerous? But PANIC!!!

Yep. Rumors are already swirling everywhere. I have read (no links at the moment) that the new strain is not as deadly but more contagious maybe (like you stated) and that health officials are saying that the new vaccine should work for this strain as well (not sure how that works since it's a NEW strain.)
Get ready for a sh!#ton of over reacting regardless.
