In case you didn't know it, Christians sin. Yep just like everyone else. Christians aren't perfect. But guess what difference between a Christian and everyone else is? Christians are forgiven.

Christians are forgiven because they believe the blood of Jesus was shed to wash away their sins when they ask God for forgiveness. If a person doesn't believe that Jesus died for their sins then they cannot be forgiven for their sins and therefore they are not a Christian.

So just because a Christian cusses a person out it doesn't make the Christian a hypocrite.

Yes. Yes it does, if they are admonishing everyone else not to do it, but they themselves do it. That's a hypocrite. Just because their god forgives them of it if they repent, doesn't make them any less so.

We all screw up from time to time, even with the plank thingy. The point is how much you sincerely attempt to avoid it all, and only God knows that part which is why only He gets to be the ultimate judge.

Otherwise we descend into arguments about forgiving Hitler and Satan.

You are lumping all Christians into one basket by saying "if they are admonishing everyone else". This OP is an example of ONE person behaving hypocritical.

You are right, someone that goes around telling people not to curse but then goes around and does it themselves is being hypocritical, but that isn't Christian-like and let's not lump all Christians into one category.

If you do that which you chastise others for, you are indeed a hypocrite. Interpreting what a 2000 year old book says to make yourself feel like you aren’t doesn’t change anything.

Well another thing too --

If she goes around telling people not to cuss, I feel there's a difference between telling them they shouldn't and then cussing all the time on her own, and say ... stubbing your toe or breaking a bone or some other traumatic event that causes someone to suddenly break out in cursing.

I've been known to do that myself. I genuinely don't think people should cuss as a regular part of their everyday vocab when just basically conversing. Nothing's more annoying than sitting at a table at a restaurant and having the next table over loudly holding forth in convo with every other word being MFer, MFing, etc., when it's clear that's just how they talk.

The occasional mild epithet? I can live with that fine.

And I've been known to cuss myself in extremity.
