It's not obtuse, it's invoking the Constitution over State law. Even though Michigan (and most other States) passed laws that say the Electors will be chosen per the State's popular vote, that does not supersede the Constitution which says that State Legislators are the final arbiters of how Electors are assigned. So the GOP-controlled was fully within their rights to assign GOP Electors and verify their EV's. The EVs of the GOP and Dems will be sent to Washington and Pence will make the final decision on which (if either) are honored and it will be up to the Legislature to declare is there are objections.

What is crazy to me is that there are still people that actually believe what you just typed.

If they can manage to contest the election, it will take the majority of both the House and Senate to over rule the EC vote. The House will vote in favor of Biden. Even if Republicans pick up both Georgia Senate seats, the day before the EC is 'officially' counted, they will not get the votes needed to overturn the result, Mitt Romney for example would vote against the protest.

Except ... that's not the Constitutional role of the President of the Senate (VP) in this instance. He presides.

The Constitution and Federal law and legal precedent are quite clear: once States have certified their elections (a matter of State law, which in this case supercedes the Constution if there were a conflict, which there isn't, see Amendment X) the only way that Congress can refuse that certification is by a a majority vote in the Senate and the House.

Which of course, numerically, seems unlikely to happen, as the chambers are controlled by different parties.

Further, the Constitution does not say that State legislatures are "the final arbiters" of how Electors are assigned. For your handy reference, here is the relevant text:

Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

The legislatures of all 50 States have laws that are still in effect that specify how the Electors will be selected. All of those laws have been followed, to wit, election held, votes verified and certified by Governors. The EC has met. The result is in. It will be confirmed by Congress on Jan. 6th.

The idea that the State leglslatures (even if there were support which there isn't) can simply set aside their own laws at them whim is absurd. Also, following the law, most of them can't simply call themselves into session.

The fact that so many are so ready to advocate for sedition, trample the Constitution and set aside the rule-of-law in this country because your candiate lost an election does not surprise me.

Biden didn't win he lost. They rigged the voting machines and used illegal ballots etc etc etc. Trump won by a landslide. Like I said before. If the courts are too cowardly to look at the evidence. The states will do it without them.

A similar thing happen in Florida. Biden had a huge lead, a few hundred thousand and that lead evaporated in less than one hour.

According to your logic, this means there must be fraud in Florida too and they need to send an alternative set of electors to DC too!

The slate of electors was determined by the election.

I don't know if you've ever known anyone who was an elector for the Electoral College, but one of my friends was for the second Obama term. Your statewide votes (which are "winner take all") elect a group of people who agreed to represent that party for the electoral college.

Michigan is a "winner take all" state. The electors gathered to cast their votes (I believe it was recorded; certainly many of them were recorded).

Biden won Michigan. Therefore, the only legal electors to show up at the count would be Biden electors.

The Trump electors were disqualified from voting because Michigan is a "winner take all" state. If Trump had won Michigan, then no Biden electors would have been allowed to be present or vote. This is the SAME PROCEDURE that went on in Texas (but Texas went for Trump) and every other state that voted where it was a "winner take all" system (there are 48 states that have a "winner take all" policy.)

Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai's method of statistical analysis has been shown to be highly flawed. It is almost as if he did not expect someone to question his method because of his background. His analysis is so flawed that other mathematicians have called for him to redact the video in your link.
