I've found cement slab to be more comfortable than the slab made out of carbon.

I like the pores.

Sealy is owned by Tempurpedic now, and are considered down line. Coils(inner spring) cause pressure points. A good memory foam will do latex however lasts longest

The Sterns & Foster is in the best shape out of all of them

Did a ton of research on SF and owner satisfaction wasn't high.

I think the old SF were probably amazing, but new ones not so much.

Yeah, stuff ain't made the way they used to be anymore. I think it's fairly telling that the best mattress in the house holding up to the test of time (discounting my older kid's stacked toppers) is a 20 year old SF one.

Can't even really find a good American-made one, either, everything's made to be disposable now no matter which country churns it out. Stupid waste of resources used to make them if you ask me.

You let your kids sleep on a mattress? Probably let them use a friggin pillow too...

No wonder we're raising a nation of entitled marys.

We just got a new bed a few months ago...finally. I knew what we wanted, but it took a heck of a long time to find it.

If you've ever stayed at a Westin Hotel they have a bed called the "Heavenly Bed". Hands-down the most comfortable bed you will ever sleep in! You can buy one, but it's complicated, and there's a lot of knock-offs which are rip offs. You can buy direct from them, but then you have to work out all the logistics of delivery yourself. Lastly, they ain't cheap either! So, I basically wanted a mattress like the Heavenly Bed without the hassle of having to buy a Heavenly Bed direct from Westin.

What we finally decided on was the top of the line Sealy. I think it was called the Silver Cloud or something like that, in a California King size. It is a coiled pillow top mattress with an integral box spring. It's a 16" mattress. And it has a lifetime guarantee. The mattress itself weighs a metric ton and takes about 3 people to lift it. (I hope I never have to move the thing!) We also got the lifting platform frame so you can elevate your feet or head, and that is NICE!!

They used to say the elevating platforms create a crease in a mattress, but the newer technology doesn't do this. Plus, I figured why not seeing as how it's guaranteed for life.

This thing is comfortable beyond description, and I have a bad back, bad shoulder and bad everything. Given you spend upwards of 1/3rd of your life in a bed I figure it's worth it to get a good one. This one wasn't cheap, but it was worth it. (Roughly about $5,000 turn key, delivered and installed). You could take off about $1,500 if you just get a regular frame, but I'll tell ya, I love love LOVE being able to elevate my feet and legs!

I do recommend going to a store to try the beds, any bed you're considering. Mattress technology has come a long way in the past few years, and some of it is not good, so it's best to try them all. I tried everything out there this time around.

You basically have (3) choices:

- Foam
- Innerspring / coil
- Air

There are also some hybrids now with foam and spring combos.

I heard all the hype about the Sleep Number beds from many friends so I went and tried one. Not only are they way expensive, but no matter how they gussy them up with pillow tops and things they're still like sleeping on a glorified air mattress for me. Foam beds just don't cut it with me either. They feel like sleeping on a sponge, and they're hot, no matter how much 'cool' crap they put on them. Hence our final decision to go the way we did.

Hope this helps.

Oh, one other thing. You won't find a place where you can try all (3) types side by side, but you can find places which sell both foam and spring types. Definitely go to a place where you can try both at the same time. It's hard to remember the pros and cons of every mattress unless you can do it all at once. For the sleep number bed you'll have to go to a sleep number store because they're not sold anywhere else.

I was mostly interested if that would be a sidekick in a marriage or a woman that would make DBcowboy kneel.

My advice for the first would be don't be shady about it but share it with your partner.

My advice for the second would be make sure it is someone that deserves you and not merely take a submissive role to anyone.

I have and I didn't like that bed.
My favorite was at the Peninsula in Chicago, but that bed isn't made for the public.

Pffft, older kid has no interest in pillows, to quote directly -- "I don't WANT pillows, they hurt my neck! Stop asking!"

I think you two would get along fine, she'd make a fine little minion underling.

I'm currently hiring sales Gunthers, she sounds like she has the edge some of the current team is lacking.

Reddit, and some other places, really bad reviews esp. about it causing back pain.
