But few see their missteps lead so quickly to white-hot anger as did Gov. Gavin Newsom, after admitting that he joined several other couples at a birthday dinner less than two weeks ago, or members of the California Legislature currently enjoying a trip to Hawaii while schmoozing with interest groups that may have underwritten the cost of the event. In both cases, the personal decisions of the elected officials involved gave the impression that their privilege led them to believe they are immune to the pandemic, ignoring the safety precautions they have asked Californians to take.
I mean why do people vote for people like them.

Californians can’t stand this clown. They will soon be calling for his resignation. Just wait and see, he thinks another lockdown will be tolerated by the people.
“While our family followed the restaurant’s health protocols and took safety precautions, we should have modeled better behavior and not joined the dinner,” Newsom said in a statement to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Oh, Gav do tell...you followed the requisite restaurant health and safety protocols?? Did you drop mask, bite, chew, chew, raise mask?? Every time? Every bite?? GTFO with these people, complete, irredeemable shyster.
the public is likely to accept Newsom’s apology and move on.
“We like it when people in authority admit they made mistakes,” he said.
Eckery said that it’s unlikely any of the legislators will face reproach from those who elected them. Still, he noted, the idea of a swanky getaway, far from the prying eyes of their constituents, “plays into an institutional cynicism” about the Legislature.

If it were truly a serious threat to life, then they wouldn't be having their maskless parties all crowded together indoors at The French Laundry.
I've said since the beginning that if it were the serious threat they want us to believe it is, you wouldn't see hide nor hair of any of the so-called elites in public with or without mask. They'd be bunkered up.
