Not sure if this is the right forum as it has been sometime since I've last logged in. But it does deal with people after all

Well, it really is not so much as a prediction as something that will come to pass in my eyes. The series “The Stand” if you did not know is a novel by Stephan King that deals with a world-wide pandemic that whittles away at the worlds (The USA in this novel) population and leaves just two camps standing…one good and the other bad. (Sound familiar?)

Of course they end up battling each other to the bitter end.

This is being released right around the holidays when emotions run high in a normal year, and this year has been anything but normal, AM I RIGHT? Depression runs rampant this time of year.

I think that a lot of people who are on a razors edge right now and are going to watch this show and see the correlation between entertainment and real life and it could quite possibly push them over the edge.

I enjoyed the first TV version, but also thought it was fairly scary as I was working as a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) defense specialist at the time and I saw it as a possibility back then. My sister wouldn’t even watch it because she thought it was to realistic. And probably is, with the exception of Mother Abilgail and the Dark Man (Randall Flagg), it truly is.

Anywhos…My prediction is that we’ll see a spike in people taking their (and possibly others) lives between mid December and April. I think that this show along with winter and lockdowns will contribute to the spike. It’ll give some ideas that normally would never have thought of such a drastic measure.

If you, or someone you know has suicial thoughts, seek help please. I can speak from experiance as I had a sister who took her own life. While it may end their pain, it wreaks havoc on others lives who cared about them.

The one during the 90's sucked. Watched like 20 mins of it. Nobody is watching this POS series.

Actually, I liked it, alot.

Of course nothing compares to a book, but it wasn't bad, and some of the people they got to place certain roles, like Tom, and Trash can man, did really good jobs.

Not sure if suicide rates will go up because of this show. IF anything, it should show things could be A LOT worse.

You know what show makes me suicidal? The Kardashians.

The Stand is fictional, those morons are real.

The Stand was probably the most tedious book ever. The beginning was good but the middle is so boring.

Once on a mid winter business trip to Minnesota I devoted myself to staying at the hotel because it was around minus 30 F every single day I was there. One night I attempted to watch the Kardashians show just to see if I could. I couldn't and the reason was that I did start to feel suicidal was for allowing even 30 minutes of my life to that show and also because I found it very hard to believe that anyone with even a partially sane mind with an IQ over say 80 would ever watch even a minute of it.

Luckily, I flipped the channel and discovered Impractical Jokers and realized that there is still a small sliver of good programming on cable television.

Mayhap it will mayhap it ain't, doubt it gets a solid following, more likely it's gonna suck as the Myst did

Already made enough changes in characters, that it has irked the Stand's long time fans. Along with questionable cast choices in general.

Ray Brentner is now a woman Rae Brentner

Mother Abagail Freemantle 100 plus years old character is now Whoopie Goldberg as Whoopie Goldberg her real age

Glen Bateman is played by Greg Kinnear which is great he is decent but he is in one episode? WTH a Doctor Sylvia Wen not even in the book, now has 5 episodes hell "ya scrood up" Bobby Terry gets one

Larry Underwood is now African American which is okay Jovan Adepo was good In Jack Ryan I'd assume he is still a righteous man.

Heather Graham doesn't really fit Rita Blackmor

nor does Amber Heard seem to fit Nadine Cross

they even had to take a minor character the"Rat man" and make him the Rat woman

A 24 hour Sham-Wow infomercial will do less damage to your brain than the Kardashians.

If they couldn't get Roland Deschain correct what makes you think this would be any different?

The Stand is one of my favourite Stephen king books. After seeing what they did to the recent gunslinger adaptations, I doubt this series.is going to be good.

a reply to: FlyinHeadlock

Yeah it sure did. I've seen the whole thing. It doesn't do the book justice at all.

That book was so boring, and lame I almost wanted to off myself after reading it. I can't imagine a TV series being any better.

Oh man.... Woopi will be Mother Abigail???

That sucks. I know it's fiction but she'll make it even less believable.

M-O-O-N, that spells "why is every Stephen King movie or TV series (except the Shining and Shawshank) so abysmally awful?"

Everybody knows that, laws yes.

That's got to be the biggest character error of SK books to film ever. Elba's a great actor though and is at least watchable

I believe King advised strongly (and it was heeded) to gloss over the world wide pandemic part of the narrative, saying "it's about the Stand".

I really enjoyed the miniseries from the 90's. Haven't read the book- trying to decide if I will attempt to before or after watching this one.

They will never get Roland 'right". Gosh, that movie was such an effing abomination. I want it wiped from my mind, even if it makes me roont.

I think he's great, Stringer Bell isn't the same with someone else playing him but he is not, repeat NOT, The Gunslinger.
