I realise they can grow to large sizes but jeebus, if you were playing golf on this course I think I would just make my way to the 19th sharpish

Adult male American alligators measure 3.4 to 4.6 m (11.2 to 15.1 ft) in length, and can weigh up to 453 kg (999 lb)

Awesome critter.

I remember seeing one at the Philadelphia Zoo about 30 years ago that was so massive it blew my mind. It had to have been at least 15 ft long and looked like it was the size of a dining room table around the middle.

Probably the closest thing to a dinosaur still wandering around.

It's not so much the length of this beast I find most frightening it's the bloody height of it

awww hes cute don't mess with him or he will bring his big brother to kick but .
Hes a baby I live in fl in Tallahassee Florida lake Jackson gator 18 feet .
walkala springs one in a glass case over 20 feet ( dead one )

gators live a long time and it takes 70 to 90 years for them to reach close to full size its only half way tehre as in teh 1960s gator were darn near extinct .

Almost non at all left in the wild the gator farm s mass breed them .

so in the next 20 years we will once again start finding gators hitting the 20 foot mark .

Gators grow there whole life and there whole life may be as much as 300 years no one is sure.

Same in Florida.

The wildlife folk reported there was nothing unusual about its size.

I have one that lives in a canal 5 miles east of me. We call it Big Al. He has been there for years. We give him his space and we have lived in harmony with Big Al. He is huge.

Big Al is a community favorite, hopefully he will not end up on the menu.
