So let me begin with this.
I am very good at chess and many other bored games.
I was best in class back in my college and high school days.
And I would coach those younger than I.
But these little crap heads are now using my own strategy against me.
Most notably in the game of RISK.
So to all those that do teach people, never tell them how you win.
Because then you will loose.
Lesson I have learned now.

I'm the head of a clan in Steam. We've been playing the same game for years, an strategy game called "Sins of a Solar Empire". Very complex game. I always play the same alien race and I was able to discover how powerful are their abilities.

I share those secrets with my clan but to learn how to use them in the right moment of the game is the biggest secret.

Poker - if you read the poker books, the real famous ones - Harrington's series, Brunson's Super System.... they all taught the ABC basics of poker but none of them wen tin to detail on how to actually out class the opponent... because giving that information away is not worth it. Nowadays it's different, and nowadays the game has become a lot harder.

Same for chess I guess.

I'm more a poker and backgammon player, I need that bit of luck in a game, my brain isn't good enough for chess... yet.

Dude chess is easy. Think of like poker and ya got it.
My secret is this. Always keep your rook in the back and sacrifice your nights.
Keep the queen safe.
The rooks are key bro.

The game of go is superior to chess in all ways. I have been playing go now on a daily basis for the last few years. When people say somebody is playing 3d chess or whatever, go would be ultimately harder once again if you made it multi-layerd. Go is outstanding. Oldest known board game.
I play on the ogs website. Best western website to play on in my opinion.

How to play go

The true measure of a leader/shepherd is the ability to uplift the subordinates to a level standing as thyself thus empowering the subordinate with the ability to be better than they once where.

You should see it as a achievement and not a selfish failure on your behalf.

You have taught loosers how to be winners - so what if it's at your expense......be proud it's not life or death.

You haven't learned any real lessons until you evolve past me me me?????

The best teachers/instructors/coaches are in it for the thrill of watching their students excel.

Something I've learned in all my years of competitive experience is that I'm not upset when I lose so long as I was competitive and made my opponent work for it. The thrill of the game is enough. I still love to win of course, but I can still learn a lot from my opponent.

If the only way you can beat some of these youngsters is to hold them back, then it's a sign you need to start learning again. Adapt and improve your own game; don't hold them back.

Every time I read Super System I understand it differently.

My name incidentally is the nickname of the guy who lost to him in the first wsop if I remember correctly.

The problem here is, all y’all been playing the wrong board games. I’m telling you. Stretch that brain, learn to play go. Teach you kids go instead of chess. Go players are strong chess players but not vice versa.

Go really helps kids abstract mind as they need to concentrate on multiple moves all around the board.
Anyway, one doesn’t start on a 19x19 board. One uses a 9x9.

4000 years old and it is still the most perfect game. All pieces have the same value and the moves per game are astronomical. I am in love and it is with the game of go.

If you win games the same way every time, you're not improving.

Teach someone the way you win, then learn how to beat your own strategy.
